All year one people bitched and whined about shotguns and how they took "No skill", but now that snipers are ruling Crucible no one wants Bungie to take that crutch away? How -blam!-ing hypocritical do you have to be, honestly, to think on weapon type requires more skill than another?
"B-but anyone can use a shotgun all you have to do is point and shoot"
Oh you mean that I don't have to get in close and stand at near the damn edge of the map and get kills with shotgun. Holy -blam!-ing shit I must have been using them wrong. Oh as for the logic of anyone can use them, why the -blam!- can everyone use a sniper? Why does everyone act like it's so -blam!-ing hard to use these things?
"W-well obviously people were complaining about things like found verdict, Felwinter's lie, and Matador"
Oh you mean like everyone is and has been complaining 1000-yard stare? Defiance of Yasmine? Just gonna ignore that are we? Because those are the snipers everyone is using right now and have had the most complaints.
"B-but shotgun were obviously broken messes, they needed to be reworked"
And sniping doesn't? When the reticle doesn't work like the rest of the -blam!-ing weapons and allows you to get a head shot? Seriously, go use any other weapon in the game and let me know which one still hit where the reticle was pointing instead of its current position. They may not be OP but they sure as hell need a looking at.
"But it must take skill because you don't see people going unbroken/getting really high kill streaks that often with snipers"
You didn't see many -blam!-ing people that went unbroken with a -blam!-ing shot gun or fusion rifle either. Most of the times when they did they used their primaries and other abilities to help them reach those milestones. Same goes for snipers.
"You're just bad and you need to adapt to the Meta"
Oh you mean like how everyone didn't adapt to shotgun/fusion rifles or any other meta?
This is what I -blam!-ing hate about the community, you people are so goddamn scared of losing the weapons that you rely to heavily on to think -blam!-ing clearly and act like giant -blam!-ing hypocrites when anyone encroaches on your weapon's territory.
You all don't want balance in this game, you want your weapons to be the best and everyone else's weapons to be a big old steaming pile. You hoot and hollar about adapting, and certain weapon being unskilled, but yet half of you couldn't use a shotgun or fusion rifle to save your life and you never even tried to get better with them.
Oh well, have fun "Adapting" to the new sniper changes coming on the 12th, I will enjoy watching you baddies struggle to get kills.
Edit: To all the people pointing out my stats, good job, you found out at least enough to know that I haven't played ON PLAYSTATION CONSOLES in a long time.
To the people that are thinking that I am salty about getting killed with sniper rounds. Nah, that isn't what pisses me off. What pisses me off is you kids want shit on other weapons, but when someone starts dumping on snipers it "OH NO DON'T NERF MY SNIPERS, THEY ARE THE PERFECTS AND MOST BALANCE RIGHT NOW".
Complain all for the first year about fusion rifles and shotguns ,that people legitimately loved using, some not even because they were the meta weapons, but when someone does the same to snipers suddenly they are noobs that can't "adapt?". Yet your unskilled asses couldn't quit bitching and adapt to those weapons?
What pisses me off is you are being -blam!-ing hypocrites about the weapons.
What's hilarious is the people in the comments proving my point about this as well, just look at how many people didn't read and just went for the insults. All they saw was someone saying something about snipers and went ape shit over it.
Edit 2: Maybe I should start a fund for the illiterate and those that are failing with reading comprehension because either people can't read or choose to ignore the point.
The point I was trying to make was that people using snipers say it takes skill to use, but yet every match people are using them often and well enough to dictate that the skill bar for these weapons is set quite low.
To be great with them, yes it does take skill, but so does using a shotgun or a fusion rifle, but yet for all of year one and parts of year 2 people still continued to whine about them without thinking "hmm why are these weapons considered OP?". Look at most the maps on this -blam!-ing game, they are built for short to mid encounters. Couple that with the fact that Bungie thinks SPECIAL ammo needs to be given out like candy and of course these weapons are going to be overused, they were the best for those situations.
As for the children saying "Oh he's a shotgunner" "Lol he mad that he can't use a sniper and get killed with them", congrats you are the people I keep referring to, that constantly defend a broken system and again demonstrate my point that when it comes to your weapons they are fine and balanced, but everything is broken, cheap mess that needs to be nerfed.
For those that think I can't use a sniper, congrats on being judgemental morons. Been using the TAO HUA YUAN (with ambush scope I might add) and Omolon Uzume quite easily and they have much lower AA than 1000-yard and Defiance.

I'm getting really -blam!-ing sick of the people walking around corners and getting instant -blam!-ing headshots with 0 reaction time. Sniping is the worst -blam!-ing thing in this games multiplayer

easiest fix ever for sniping. if you get shot while ADS,you de-scope. campers done. it was that way in Halo. why not now???
-
The truth shall set us free. Here's to hoping it does. Currently there is no scope glint on snipers so it's even worse than before. I still like using shotty over sniper. Why? Because I thinking takes more 'skill' and it definitely more fun to get up close, take 2 guys out, and get away clean. Have fun camping the spark in rift you pansies.
-
I don't think snipers really have a problem but they're definitely overused IMO. For the record I defended shotguns as well and was really disappointed when they took away my shotpackage/knee pads felwinters. I think if they buffed other weapons then snipers wouldn't be so much of an issue.
-
One problem is some maps open up in such a way that snipers can cover every entry point and makes the game just kind of dumb. They don't need to be nerfed or anything. It should be 1 shot headshot. But it really shouldn't be so easy to aim. I think it should be halo sniper. No aim assist, smaller recoil to balance. Or maybe while sniping, increase damage received. Simply decreasing ammo would help as well.

Edited by Qeylis: 4/2/2016 10:49:07 AMSniper Flinch needs a massive increase, and close range snipes should be nearly impossible. Snipers should be able to kill in one hit, that's kind of the point. But they are also supposed to be ambush weapons. A sniper should be so confused and randomly turned around when they get shot by a pea shooter while ADS that re-acquiring their target is out of the question. The Unflinching perk should mitigate this by allowing them to face the same direction, but they will probably want to transition to primary, and run. Aim assist at close range should be completely removed. This should not be gradual. Snipers should work at 50 meters, and not work at all at 49.9. All sniper perks should be turned off at 49.9 meters. These changes would make Snipers the situational weapon they should have been from the beginning, instead of the primary weapon they are now.
-
Take the aim assist away and see how much skill they have after that

I thinks it's bull shit i use to be a "dirty rat" cause I ran shotgun 100 percent of the time, people would always talk so much shit. So one day I put the shotgun down and started trying to snipe, after a few months I got pretty good, now I get bitched at for running snipes. I guess long story short some one always gonna be butt mad.

Edited by pumpkinhead1990: 4/2/2016 8:45:01 AMI have to agree. I'll be the first to admit that my preferred style is aggressive close quarters combat and thus I prefer shotguns, but in IB I've been using a sniper and I'm actually amazed at some of the shots I've got. The majority of the time it's cross map, blindsiding someone, that is not threatening me in the slightest. I'm freaking terrible at snipers and have been able to get some decent headshots (some questionable as to whether I was actually on the head). I think the major problem is that sniping has such little risk associated with it currently, where shotgun has the map, handling times, movement, range and the opponent working against it. Snipers need more mechanics that the player has to wrestle against to level the playing field.

Edited by Admiral392: 4/2/2016 1:01:06 PMThe only thing that I think needs to be looked at ok snipers is aim assist. Now hear me out, why does every sniper have a different AA? Why hasn't Bungie made it so that they all have the same AA. I understand where you're coming from, but sniping does take skill, so does shotgunning. Just to look at Luminosity. The reason I say sniping takes skill is because when someone picks up a sniper for the first time they're not going to quick scope like hovey or kraftyy. Anyone have any comments on my opinion? Edit: I generally use snipers and I'm pretty good at it, only reason I'm defending them.

snipings to easy Idc what your argument is, you cannot deny that fact Until they make pulling off hs more difficult or make the other weapons more viable, your going to see this shit everywhere
-
Sniping takes skill. O_o
-
Agree. The way most of the maps in Destiny are built means that snipers honestly have no drop-off range as the maps are so small. Not to mention the fact that snipers don't have any kind of weapon sway or bullet drop. I'm effective with a sniper in Destiny, but I just -blam!-ing hate that you almost have to use one in stuff like Trials to counter other snipers.
-
But... I love sniping, sniping is my life :(
-
Same face I make when people say shotguns takes skill......
-
snipers take as much skill right now as it takes any FPS player to learn how to shoot with that games specific FPS mechanics (which is not really long give or take a few sessions or days) now to pull of the jumping and quick scoping stunts most sniper pros do yes i'll agree that takes a bit more skill than the average player (however i don't agree that snipers should be allowed to do that.......) but for the most part i think we can all agree that destiny has set the snipers bar pretty low even for an FPS......
-
The only fix I can see that should be applied to snipers are the plan of field view in the scope used. When a subject moves closer to the scope it should blur as the plan of field is fixed at a magnification limit on the scope. A 3 set 4-10x magnification 40mm eye piece does not just "autofocus" or focus below its intended set magnification to account for a moving subject. When it's out of range the scope is useless. This is how a tactical eye piece works. It's intended use is mid to longe range and the effectiveness should be negated all together at close quarter combat.

Nobody is jumping around sniping everybody ... yet. Still waiting for the Koreans to join in :d

Curious, what would you do if they buff everything back to to its former place of a weapon type to its prime? What difference would the sniper change do? I haven't watch the twitch stream since I don't want to be caught in the hype.
-
Totally agree with this, people defending their crutches and then saying shotguns are in a good place atm when they aren't, I'm hoping their next weapons rebalance does in fact do that. Variety of more than a few choices is a good thing in a game where there are so many different weapons available. Im hoping fusions get a buff too.

Well said!

Despite popular belief It actually does take skill to snipe someone. In PVP your not fighting against AI's your fighting actual people who are actively moving not typical to any AI. I've used a sniper rifle in crucible and it's hard to get a clear shot of another guardian because, they jump in the air and almost immediately go back towards the ground on top of the enemy player who's actually smart enough to find cover..... seeing as how your obviously butthurt by the fact that you got sniped means that your not using your head in the crucible and finding cover to prevent you from dying from a head shot from a sniper
-
Have to say, you are completely wrong. Each weapon type has its own situations where skill is involved and others where it's classed as cheap. The only difference is range. To say a shotgun needs more skill because you have to get in close, well that's obvious, because that's the range it's meant to be used at. Shotguns still have their own cheap tactics, same as snipers. I welcome any comments from people who think different.
