I have to agree. I'll be the first to admit that my preferred style is aggressive close quarters combat and thus I prefer shotguns, but in IB I've been using a sniper and I'm actually amazed at some of the shots I've got. The majority of the time it's cross map, blindsiding someone, that is not threatening me in the slightest. I'm freaking terrible at snipers and have been able to get some decent headshots (some questionable as to whether I was actually on the head).
I think the major problem is that sniping has such little risk associated with it currently, where shotgun has the map, handling times, movement, range and the opponent working against it. Snipers need more mechanics that the player has to wrestle against to level the playing field.
