My absolute top on my wish list is...
A material that makes Rares into Legendaries.
Bungies original idea was to have so much unique gear that everyone would be different. This would boost that. Everyone has Rares that you wish could be Legendary because of their stats or perks. It would make the game so much better.

I'd like to be able to make my rare emblems and shaders and emotes legendary. (I'm a completionist.)

This. What you are suggesting (as well a system to make uncommon to rare and common to uncommon) would essentially be a convoluted-extra grindey transmog....why have they never done this??? Instead of making vanity slots that would be as simple as the helmet toggle, the focus on chroma...WTF???!!!
