Choosing your Faction should be an important decision, not the fleeting one that we have now.
As it stands now, Factions are just vendors and play no role in the shape or direction of mankind in this post Golden Age. This should change. The following could add some much needed variety to Destiny.
Give us storylines based around the goals of each faction.
Make some of those overlap and conflict!
Make us want to be part of DO not just because of cool Shaders or Hung Jury, but because they have the right view on our future.
Idea 1:
A Ketch has been forced to an emergency landing on Europa. On it is a Kell with some amazing technology that everyone would love to get their hands on. Vanguard, NM, DO, FWC, and the Fallen want it - each for their own purpose.
A massive battle ensues at the crash site. Amidst the carnage you must locate the device and bring it back to your ship for delivery to your Faction handler - Arach, Hideo, Zavala, Ikora, etc....
One faction will win each encounter. The outcome of said match will determine your next step in the mission chain.
Did you lose the battle? Now you have to sneak into the winners HQ and steal it back.
Yeah, it's kinda like Battlefront. But it would be epic and something different. A way to intertwine PvE and PvP. A different way to play through the story missions. Your gameplay has consequences and it matters.
Idea 2:
Faction and Class Wars!
A week long event featuring your favorite class or Faction.
A 6v6v6 game mode which pits Titans vs Hunters vs Warlocks. The winning team earns rewards befitting a winner. Stats are kept all week and the class with highest score at the end of the week earns some sweet loot!
Faction Wars would be the same only NM vs FWC vs DO and maybe even Vanguard.
