I posted this in another thread, I'll post it here too. Just my opinion. My biggest issue is with the sniper rifle change, from a PvE player's perspective. I should start by saying I don't even play Destiny anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't have fun following it and seeing how it evolves. I played it for a long time for many hours. Snipers are pretty much the primary source of DPS in PvE. There's no more Gjallarhorn, and unless it's a fight with specific mechanics that don't really require sustained weapon DPS (like staggering Oryx and damaging him with blight bomb detonations, for example) sniper rifles are your best source of constant and high DPS. Nerfing the amount of ammo you can carry is a big hit to overall DPS. They claimed to have offset that by increasing the amount of special ammo that will drop off enemies, but that is only good when you don't need to sustain DPS. On fights like Golgoroth or Warpriest, you could easily pop an ammo synth and drain through that whole magazine in one DPS phase. Now, each ammo synth effectively grants you less ammo and thus less DPS. I'm not saying this because it absolutely ruins PvE, players will adapt and bosses aren't all that tough to begin with, I'm just illustrating the effect of PvP nerfs on PvE encounters. It has to stop. The game can't continue to be balanced around PvP. Most of the changes they mentioned in the stream today impact the PvE world in a negative way, from lesser flame shield absorption, to MIDA high caliber round removal, to lower sniper stability and ammo capacity. It was very nice that they increased the reload speed of Kingsfall primary weapons, but sadly those aren't the primary source of meaningful DPS. Primaries are used to kill thrall, acolytes. The Hung Jury does a mighty fine job of that already. Snipers, Machine guns are a big deal in end game PvE activities, and both got hit with snipers being hit the hardest. Makes me shake my head that they continue to fail at finding a balance between both PvP and PvE activities. Especially when PvE activities are really where you want to feel powerful. There's no down side to players feeling buffed in PvE. There certainly is a down side to continuing to make their characters feel enfeebled.

  • Agreed. I wish they could somehow make these changes to PvP only instead of to both. Every time the stupid wanna-be pro PvP players b*tch about something those of us who live(d) for raids and strikes suffer. Hell even a lot of the snipers aren't as good in PvE as is! When you have a captain or some other enemy who takes an entire clip to drop as it is... I haven't played destiny in a while either. I loved the taken king but it lost me towards mid December. No new content and a worse grind than ever killed it for me. After watching the entire segment on warlocks, my still original and favorite class, I'm even less inclined to return next week. Had they left my stormcaller, my favorite subclass and honestly the most balanced (yeah I said it) alone I would have likely come back. As it stands though I'm sticking to my dinosaurs in Ark

to be fair, the bosses in this game (for example i'll use KF bosses but they all act the same for the most part.) are all damaged from burst damage phases, and besides maybe oryx who is a gimmick boss i can't think of any that require a sustained damage phase long enough to run out of ammo on a sniper, heavy, and primary. like war priest for example, if you are running a sniper that is not the black spindle you are probably better off switching to your heavy after 1 or 2 mags just to get that bonus burst damage out. and golgoroth even with multi orb strats doesn't take so long as to completely run out of special and heavy, without the option of a synth. so end game wise the change isn't going to effect alot. maybe a few boss strategies in strikes or raids, but all strike bosses have ads that drop tons of ammo anyway, and most bosses do the same. the only thing i can think of the sniper change will come close to "negatively" effecting is patrol or a select few parts in some strikes but even then its not going to be overly noticeable. now i do agree that PvP changes should not effect PvE, last thing anyone wants is another auto rifle debacle, but small stuff like this isn't worth the over reaction people are already giving it. i will still stand by anyone (for the most part... some people are insane after all) who says BIG changes to PvP should not effect PvE but small stuff like this isn't something to worry about.

  • Completely agreed. Snipers seem like they are still going to be the only viable option as a weapon in pve. Now players will just NEED the armour that gives more sniper ammo.
