It says this in the Black Garden grimoire card:
"At the end of the path grew a flower in the shape of a Ghost. I reached out to pluck it and it cut me with a thorn. I bled and the blood was Light. The Ghost said to me: You are a dead thing made by a dead power in the shape of the dead. All you will ever do is kill. You do not belong here. This is a place of life."
also in the original destiny story, we were meant to find out that the traveller is evil and we must stop it from being resurrected.
Can we really trust the speaker? This may also explain why the ahamkara were hunted down. You may know that the ahamkara made bargains, mostly these dragons would give knowledge. Maybe the speaker ordered their extinction because they knew the true nature of the traveller!!!

It's not as simple as good and evil. The traveller normally abandons the species it uplifts when the darkness arrives, which is an immoral thing to do, but it follows the philosophy of the light, which is to never fight. We as guardians are the product of the traveller being forced to break its own morales to protect its self. It is not a very good sky orb, but it is far from the worst evil in the game.
