Sniper inventory reduced by 5-7 shots. That's freaking huge!
Let's talk math(exciting I know lol)
If I have 23 rounds max on my stillpiercer, with boots on and all.
For simplicity sake let's say to a pve boss I do a flat 1000 per hit.
23x1000=23000
Now with hit to ammo lets use avg and say 6 rounds removed
18
17x1000=17000
That is a 26% reduction in potential damage (over a quarter)
That's horrible, and a bad call please bump and comment maybe someone will see this
Edit, I have never trended before so thanks to all
Edit 2, near 1500 replies thanks I've never had over 20 before lol so thanks to all and be careful out there in the update

Edited by Dinkus McGee: 4/8/2016 4:39:24 PMHoly cow, people are such whiners. "Oh no! Bungie cut our ammo reserves! Eff them!". (Totally disregards the buff to hawkmoon, low rate pulses, low rate autos, fusions, hand cannon ammo, increased rewards, infusion now is full power, and the frequency of ammo drops in pve) Jesus. Every change here is minor. Easily able to cope with. And imho, quite necessary.

If they want to make this nerf hurt less for PvE players then make the cool down on special amo synths 3 minutes rather than 5. I think it's a good solution what do you think?
-
Edited by Bungo: 4/8/2016 2:34:48 PMCorrect me if I'm wrong but I remember hearing that They increased drop rate and amount in a green brick in pve to counter this change.
-
Too bad icebreaker isn't year two
-
Too bad
-
BUMP and thank you for the logical math to back your statement. These "sandbox" changes are complete and utter BS on both sides of the Fence. (PVP & PVE)
-
Sniping is for the weak.

Edited by Pink Anarchist: 4/8/2016 4:19:41 PMYou don't even need to pull in damage numbers for the math. Let's assume no ammo perks, so 18 rounds (if not Eirene), now let's assume a reduction of just 5 (so obviously not 1kys). 5/18 = 0.2777... So a reduction of potential damage of at least 27.8 % without any ammo perks.
-
I thought it was going to be 2 shots? Now it's 5-7?
-
I wouldn't start complaining before they even release the patch
-
Didn't they also say that special ammo drops would increase in all PvE content. Doesn't that offset this?
-
23 gone to 17. This is 6/23 reduction : ~24%. No need to normalize anything. :p

So just so everyone realizes. Bungie is a company. They want to make money and have large amounts of play time. What better way to increase play time than making things harder? Since ammo is now nerfed damage will now be less and bosses will take more time to beat which means more play time. Also since ammo perks will be more important it will mean more grind, which means more play time. So for the last time so everyone finally realizes. Bungie doesn't care about the community. They want dat money. The devs are great creative people. But under the influence of the higher ups they can't do what they want for the game. And since everyone is crying about PvP and how it causes nerfs like this. It does. PvP has been the cause for a large majority of the nerfs. Bungie simply does not want to take the time to separate weapons. Destiny would likely be better if weapons in PvP performed differently than in PvE. So basically. Play time. That's what Bungie wants, and money. That's it. Not the approval of their community. None of that stuff. Which makes perfect sense. They are a company.

Wow I didn't know they were taking that many shots away. How does that even do anything anyways? If you have 17 bullets in your sniper, you've already got more then enough for most of a trials game.. Literally only a nerf for pve.....
-
But what does this mean for Warpriest and Golgoroth?
-
Between the missing ammo nerf and the decrease in stability between shots for snipers they are no longer going to be viable for most raids
-
23-6=17 just sayin
-
It's bungies's solution to make people use primaries.

335 sleeper here I come.

Edited by Delta Vee: 4/8/2016 12:53:50 PMExotic armor special weapon bonuses better counter this nerf. 24 shots in spindle was amazing ~TheGreatFila

Bungo wants their game to die
-
I'm just mad heavy will only come once a match! My warlock still needs to get guardian sword kills on crucible. Do you realize how hard and long that will take?
-
The only sniper I'm curious about is NLB... was it affected? Already only could carry a single spare mag as it was..
-
Maybe they should've reduced boss health to compensate
-

I'm definitely not disagreeing, I do think it's a stupid way to address special weapon overuse in Crucible. But keep in mind that our light level will be increasing so our damage output will be increasing as well. I don't know how the numbers will work out, but I wouldn't be surprised if those 18 rounds will end up doing more damage to a raid boss once we're up over 330 than the full 23 rounds do now at 320. Or at the very least be on par. Again, not disagreeing that the way they're addressing sniper overuse in PvP by messing it up in PvE is ridiculous. It totally is. But I think it won't be as bad as it seems once we start levelling up a bit more.
