Trying to run out to grab more ammo bricks in the middle of DPS phase on Golgoroth is not possible. You'll empty your sniper ammo and have to switch to an HMG to finish out the phase and then grab more special ammo bricks during the next add clearing phase. Which means overall less DPS per phase. But hopefully our increasing light level will balance it out.
My concern with the increased ammo brick drop rate is that I frequently run into a glitch where NO ammo drops. I end up emptying all my ammo from primary, special, and heavy and after a little while of having zero ammo my reserves will be magically refilled, but still NO ammo bricks dropping. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it sucks. If I can't even be sure ANY ammo bricks will drop every time then I'm not really putting a lot of faith in the increased drop rate.
(General Disclaimer: I love this damn game and I'm going to have fun playing it regardless of whether I think the changes they made make sense or not. Just voicing my opinion on them. I'm definitely not one of those "RIP Destiny! Way to go Bungo! I'm deleting all my characters and breaking my disc!" douche nozzles that love to hang out on these forums despite hating the game.)
