If you really were in Vegas (depending on the casino) they give you free drinks for long sessions on gambling.
When security sees players that are at a table for long periods of time they give them free drinks to further their stay to keep playing.
Kind of like when a person plays this game.
They give you a purple Ingram, bit it's not what you wanted. They both keep you on the edge to entice players to play more.

I'm just saying that people are grinding for things that aren't going to matter later on. Simple. Everything we have now will more then likely be irrelevant sooner or later. Like when they made everything irrelevant from year 1 in year 2. What's stopping them from making our gear and weapons now, irrelevant in year 3? And so on? There is no way to "reach the top" because there is no top. Why do you think they raised the light level? To give ppl that edge to grind for more and more. But honestly it doesn't matter as this game continues. They'll raise it again and make current guns and gear irrelevant again. This game is a grind to reach the top but there is no top lol.
