If you're working on the quest for an exotic class item from a faction, do not wear a spektar class item that you may get from a package.
After exchanging all of my heavy ammo syntheses, motes of light, and planetary material, I got rank 25 for Dead Orbit. I have gotten lots of Spektar Heliopause gear, including the Spektar Heliopause Bond. And I already have the emblem and shader. So naturally I'd begin grinding the heroic strike playlist for the quest.
But after finishing a strike, I'm still at 0%. So for science, I went back to the tower, purchased a non-spektar class item, and launched the heroic strike playlist. Now I'm receiving points for the quest.
In retrospect, I should've tracked the quest so that I could check my progress during the strike. But the thought never occurred to me.
This has been your public service announcement. Bungie, please make it so that wearing spektar class items count for the quest.
Edit: Let's keep spreading this word! Thanks to those who did!
Edit 2: It appears that Bungie is aware of this bug and is working on a fix. https://www.bungie.net/Mobi/en/About/Article?id=44590

Edited by JukeBoxHero0311: 4/23/2016 4:12:38 AMThis happened to me as well, thank you for confirming it was the new spektar faction class items. Unfortunately I spent my marks on a year 2 red death so I will have to wait. Hopefully this will change in the future, they should count in my opinion.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks, this just happened to me aswell. Got the same idea but I thought that bungie would have actually fixed this but apparently not yet. Spektar gear wont work for this quest.
-
Thanks for the warning.

The amount of people who are ignorant to the fact that reputation items come in regular (from vender) and spektar (faction rank up) and tell OP that he isn't wearing a faction item is staggering. Example: Heliopause Cloak (Dead Orbit vender) Spektar Heliopause Cloak (Dead Orbit faction rank up package) The more you know *rainbow*
-
That's common sense. You need faction items for the exotic quest
-
Uses non faction class item, doesn't know why they aren't receiving credit. Its not even 8 am and this is probably as dumb as I'll allow myself to see today.
-
You need to wear your factions armor while doing the quest Shader Class item Emblem It wasn't the spektar class item
-
-
I wish I knew this before I deleted faction class items that I got spektar replacements for....thanks for the info tho!

Edited by ByWatterson: 4/17/2016 4:49:24 AMBump again. Couldn't crack this code for a long while. Even faction items are no good if they are from the April update drop sets.
-
Wow, that's an oversight if ever I saw one!
-
Your a noob lmao 😂😂😂😂👎
-
Unfortunately I found this out last night.
-
Bump. I got the new spektar one and deleted my old one because you know they're both from new monarchy. Did a few strikes and no progress. SO I HAD TO GO BUY A NEW ONE FOR 75 marks (the shit i just deleted) just to do the quest. And i will delete the legendary one once i get the exotic so i just had to wast 75 marks. Thanks bungie

I have this problem as well thx for telling me.
-
Thanks for the info! I have the NM cloak and FWC bond. Just ranked to 25 last night for the DO bond quest. I keep pretty close tabs on the more 'grindy' quests and this would've bugged the heck out of me. Will make sure I am running with the regular Heliopas when I start working on the quest this evening. I'm actually wearing the Keeper's Dread right now, but would've changed to the Spektar when starting. I guess that's not going to work. :)
-
Same thing with me, did some strikes and realized my cloak was keeping me from progressing.
-
That's a bad oversight. Post this in feedback and or the help forum too buddy so Bungie is aware.
-
That sucks man cause that quest is a grind.
-
You should wear the faction class item, I got the 9 class items, and pretty sure it's written clearly on the quest.
-
How do you get the quest?
-
-
Did you have the shader and emblem on with the class item?

Thanks for the info! Going to do FWC today
