I just hope the hipsters don't come out and talk about how much of a fan they are of Prince and how his work changed their lives now that's the news about is out, same thing happened with David Bowie and Lemmy killmeister (sp?) It's a shame for anyone to die but I just can't stand it when people claim to be a such a huge "fan" right around the time the person passes away...

Hi Harold Sweeney, I was born in 1976. Purple Rain was a huge impact on my life. I was brought up in a family of an abusive alcoholic father. He was even arrested for the stuff he did to me and my brothers. When I was 11 I didnt have anyone to talk to. Infact I thought my life was normal. Purple Rain movie was the first time the issue of abuse was address in a movie I personally saw. Because of that movie, I began to pay attention to his work. He was a big deal to me. I am by no means a hipster.

Edited by albinomachina: 4/22/2016 9:15:06 PMThe only thing worse than that is having to hear their music on the radio after they die. The absolute worst was Whitney Houston. I got so sick of having to hear that God awful "I will always love youuuuuuuuuuuuu" song words can't begin to describe it. edit - at least STP and David Bowie were good.

Agree, sad for him to die and all, but prince was just something to laugh at.

Thank God I don't go to Coachella anymore because all the hipsters would make me sick. Last time I went was in 2008 when Prince headlined......Epic

this. In fact, this is the "crux" of my "hate" of this thread. there are a lot of people on this thread that did not even cared about prince until yesterday. they only care and want the walkabout shader now because it is now cool to say that you did.

Yep, society in a nut shell. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there are plenty of people who are/were fans and at the moment of hearing about his death it reminded them of how much they liked Prince, but that's not who I'm talking about, I'm talking about the people who ACT like they do or did... You know, the type of people you would confront about it in real life and be like "oh you're huge fan of Prince? Name me 5 albums.. And they would just stay at you. Now if you were to try and do that over the Internet people would just look it up. Smh
