People don't like to spend anytime educating themselves on the facts of social issues/politics/religion or anything two sided really. Instead they listen to talking heads and others they respect and agree on the information fed to them. Media bias is also to blame for this.
People spend more time researching places to eat, forms of entertainment (movies & video games), products to buy, etc. than more important long term life impacts. Such as finances, universities, student loans, house buying, mortgages, retirement financing, etc.
If I could use a time machine I'd be more interested in seeing the future than "fixing/changing" the past.
