My sincere salutations guardians,
Do not worry, I am not posting this text to complain or unleash anger based on some kind of unsolved issues about my childhood or my past. I am only posting this text because I love the game and I would dare to say that my opinion could probably mirror what many guardians think. ( I know. Who the hell am I to say that?)
I've been playing DESTINY every day since BETA and since (obviously) the first day it came out. To be honest with you, I always hated FPSs. I thought they were dumb and for stupid people that lack a creative mind. However, the first time I launched my character into patrol I felt this powerful space ambiance/mood gain the best of me. I am pretty sure that many guardians who played their first mission on September 9, 2014 felt the same. The game was beautiful and very intriguing. The idea of exploring planets and their landscapes to save the universe while shooting stuff was a romantic idea and a very hard one to reject.
On the other hand, fast forward almost two years later, I must admit that as a player who achieved everything there was to achieve in this game I kind of miss this intriguing and specific mood I encountered when I first started playing this game. One could say that it is because I've played too much and it's normal. But it's not really what I want to touch. What I mean is that I no longer feel unsafe, intrigued or curious playing this game. I no longer feel this game is an ADVENTURE. I feel this game has focused a bit too much on balancing weapons instead of giving this community an actual JOURNEY to taste... and live. Do not get me wrong I like to shoot stuff, but clearing ''adds/minions'' just to clear them is unsatisfying.
I think the community needs to be emotionally involved into the story so this whole thing works. I think what most of us want overall, is to feel this specific mood concerning this battle between the light and darkness. When it's bright I want to laugh, be happy or feel in awe in front of marvellous landscapes. And when it is dark, I want to feel scared, unsafe, creeped out and even uncomfortable if the story has to go this way. When I kill a boss I want to feel that something important or special has been done for the light and I want to sweat more that I've sweat playing Trials of Osiris killing that Boss, that HOPEFULLY will be unique and not just a cheap giant replica of a knight, servitor, minotaur or any other versions of ''adds'' we encounter in this game.
Also, Bungie should not forget that they created a huge community. As a result players play together and reach out to each other on forums for help... So if Bungie only ask us to clear ''adds'', we are now past this point where clearing ''adds'' could be considered as something difficult.
I also need to feel that I've travelled somewhere. Let me enjoy the ride and let me look at the landscapes. If you force me to walk during ten minutes during mission to
put emphasis on the beauty of the game I'll enjoy it.
To conclude, I hope nobody thought I was salty writing this. Because I am not. I only hope there is a big journey ahead with many stories and UNiQUE bosses to kill.
P.S : We want DEEP SEA SPACE MONSTERS!!!!! AND URBAN SPACES TO EXPLORE :)
