• 3 meals a day, free medicare at the expense of the taxpayers, able to get free education at the expense of the taxpayers, correction officers are so restricted due to PC they can't really do their job, sounds really harsh to me. Prison should be a feared place. Prison should be harsh enough to make you second guess your decision to commit a crime. Right now people commit crimes for the sake of going to prison for the benefits.

  • No one goes to prison for the benefits. Prison is a corrupt environment, the guards, the inmates, they all operate outside the law. You could die any day. The whole environment is very deadly. The meals? Trash that barely keeps you alive. The CO? A curtesy. Anyone with real crimes wont get out without playing a game with the feds. Go to a prison yourself then tell me how they aren't harsh enough

  • Hey don't break the law and you don't have to go there. People like you like to forget that they committed crimes and deserve to be in prison.

  • I work with Co's and jailers. Not every prison is corrupt. There is definitely some corrupt prisons which need to be dealt with but hey, can't spell America without corrupt. Prison isn't a feared place for career criminals otherwise they would have stopped the first time. Gang connections become stronger, not to mention the benefits. You know prisoners get better quality meals then the military.

  • Gang connections are half the reason its dangerous. Its a warzone. And lifers? They're some tough guys man. "Penitentiary's full of promise makers, never realized the time that bitch níggas you wasted"

  • The death penalty doesn't deter crime. If dying doesn't deter people, what makes you think treating them like shit will? If anything they'd come out more likely to commit a crime. Do you think people who go to jail for minor things should come out hating the world? The goal should be to rehabilitate, not destroy the morality of prisoners.

Honestly the death penalty should be handled by the locals by firing squad. Sure you could rehabilitate criminals, but what if they just play it off like they have been saved only to go out and commit more crime. Let's say some one was completely rehabilitated, but then they go back to the same area that shaped them and fall back into the same crap. Rehab only helps people that help themselves, if they committed a crime, then they already failed at helping themselves. I do believe there should be a system to rehabilitate prisoners, but like I said, if you can't help yourself, no one can help you.
