No one goes to prison for the benefits. Prison is a corrupt environment, the guards, the inmates, they all operate outside the law. You could die any day. The whole environment is very deadly. The meals? Trash that barely keeps you alive. The CO? A curtesy. Anyone with real crimes wont get out without playing a game with the feds.
Go to a prison yourself then tell me how they aren't harsh enough

Hey don't break the law and you don't have to go there. People like you like to forget that they committed crimes and deserve to be in prison.

I work with Co's and jailers. Not every prison is corrupt. There is definitely some corrupt prisons which need to be dealt with but hey, can't spell America without corrupt. Prison isn't a feared place for career criminals otherwise they would have stopped the first time. Gang connections become stronger, not to mention the benefits. You know prisoners get better quality meals then the military.
