Wow, you really got us there with that oh so deeply insightful, not at all rude or disrespectful argument there. As Maleficent stated, we've covered this - in great detail - many other times on this thread. In fact, I'll copy/paste a response I gave to another engaging forum user less than 10 posts down from this one, since you can't be bothered to use that scroll button any further.
This isn't exactly an original post on this thread, but since we're here... there are a couple of definitions people like to throw around about sexism. The definition I find more appropriate is the sociological one in which sexism is defined as discrimination by the dominant sex (men) against the subordinate sex (women), or to put it another way sexism = prejudice against women + institutional power to enforce the prejudice. As women do not have institutional power in our or most societies, while we can be prejudiced, we cannot be sexist. The other common definition is an OED-type that usually says something along the lines of sexism is discrimination against people on the basis of sex. Even if you accept this definition, and to be clear, I don't as it's woefully inadequate, in order to for us discriminate against men, men must have some inherent right to join our clan that we are taking away. That does not exist in this instance, as we are a private group with every right to set our own admission criteria.
You might have some slim argument in these instances:
1. If we tried to force members to only game with other members, only be a part of our group, or only be friends with other women. We don't do any of these things - in addition to being ridiculous, it would be taking away the rights clearly outlined in the Code of Conduct and other guidelines for multiple group membership, etc.
2. If we promoted some sort of hatred or intolerance toward men. We also do not do that. While I'm sure out of our over 1,300 members, there has to be at least one person who is only friends with women, that would be the rare case, and certainly not as a result of anything we promote. What we are trying to do is provide a space for women to feel comfortable and meet other women. We really don't have the time or care to concern ourselves with men (worrying about them, griping about them, tearing them down, etc.) - it's not something we're interested in as we're too busy playing a video game.
3. If we had some stated beef with other exclusivity based clans, like all-male clans, nationality-based clans, age-based clans, etc., and we were actively trying to undermine or attack them. We don't have any problem with those either, and we don't attack other groups' missions. We respect their right to set their own admission criteria and don't feel like we have to be a part of every single space in Destiny.
In summary, we're just trying to game here, and we like the opportunity to meet other women who share that interest. Neither that, nor the concept of an all-female space, is sexist.
