Even solo players aren't supposed to be immune to matchmaking supposedly keeping players in the 1.0 W/L ratio, but as a former solo player across many FPS games I can assure you that having a couple trusted allies that you play with consistently will benefit you greatly. Eventually you will discover each other's weaknesses and augment those with another's strengths. You'll find that you have more field awareness through communication. Team shooting (focus fire), covering dropped lanes... The list is endless. In any FPS and even in tournament paintball (look up NXL and former PSP videos) you'll notice that rarely do individuals win matches, they might get all the G's (kills) by making huge plays, but they can't do it without their team. *Edit: in many cases you can keep attitudes in check. Match format games, such as trial's race-5 format, can be won or lost solely based on gumption, humility, and unit cohesion. They are one point by point and forgetting about how, "that guy doesn't take damage." Etc...
