I just want my nightstalker melee to knife when I'm touching an enemy player and not throw a smoke bomb. I hate getting killed by a player with no health because I go to melee and a smoke bomb gets thrown when I'm literally touching them and looking at them.

I usually have the opposite problem. I can be backed away, a significant distance, and I smoke to disorient or go invis, whatever, and I lunge thirty feet into nothing, knife the air and get wrecked by the dude who I wanted to ambush or escape from.
