Titans have always been inferior to Hunters and Warlocks. The neutral game and supers have always been meh at best and downright useless at worst. This can be supported by statistical and anecdotal evidence.
First up, I'll give some of the anecdotal and firsthand experience I have acquired after over 1800 hours logged as a Titan and hundreds of hours using each subclass.
Why Do I main Titan Despite It's Mediocrity in PvP?

I get this question constantly from friends who have to endure my constant rants. The answer is simple, I feel most comfortable as a Titan and it fits my playstyle the most. I don't feel like I should have to switch characters just to do better.
Why are Titans Underpowered?
Titans may be PvE Gods, but in Competitive Multiplayer, they are complete crap to be perfectly honest. Here's why.
1. The Neutral games don't feature any overly powerful abilities (Juggernaut shotgun is pretty decent but that's it, Shoulder Charge is mediocre as a killing machine and isn't used for that purpose anyway by most top tier players, and is instead, used to move faster) The grenades are meh. Fusions and magnetics are the only OP grenades Titans have and so I use them instead of lightnings or suppressors which take skill to use and aren't as effective in my experience. Plus we dare the only class that doesn't have blink.
2. The Supers are underwhelming
Fist of Havoc has no range and is really just an inferior version of Nova Bomb.
Defender is a bubble and for PvP it's a super magnet and only dangerous to idiots.
Sunbreaker is actually pretty decent but the last nerf gutted the hit detection and blast radius, making them very underwhelming, albeit the best subclass Titans have atm.
3 The melee is borderline useless
This is simply because of the severe lack of range.
Statistical Evidence

In general, Titans are the worst class in the game and have been since Alpha. The fixes are easy and include fixing the hit detection on all supers and melee attacks, and restoring the damage and speed of hammers. Maybe making Ward of Dawn mobile would be smart too but that may be overkill unless done properly.
Just an FYI I do not have regular access to a computer as my PC has died so I cannot respond frequently to everyone for now.

Edited by Philosocrates: 4/27/2016 4:54:01 PMDid Shoulder charge get a secret nerf ? Playing IB last night and not a single 1hk on healthy enemies. It would leave a sliver of health and I would die from melee or a quick shotgun blast. It could have been the inconsistent server speeds, but it's getting hard to tell now.

Shoulder charge's aim assist, Fist of panic's infinite AOE, Titan skate, Twilight Garrison. Boom, just blew your entire point.
-
Titan slam is unstoppable and I can't tell you how many times I have clutched a match using it. Arc grenades are unbeatable for people pushing to get a res. All characters have strengths and weakness.

I main a warlock and I was vocal about that Sunbreaker didn't need a nerf ignore crybabies but Bungie did what they do best. "Gutting a thing to death" In my opinion Titan Sunbreaker should be buffed.

That's far from conclusive. This shows that teams choosing to run 3 titans are at a slight disadvantage in trials, when viewing raw statistics. A test of significance would be nice, as this might be totally meaningless. Also trials is a hyper specific measure.
this is garbage
Ok I main a Titan and I'm here to say that Striker Titans specifically are by no means underpowered. Magnetic and fusion grenades may be 1hk if stuck, lightning grenades though have an absolutely absurd AoE and with aftershocks last for a long time which is great for choke points and zone control. Storm fist Melee is easily one of the best melees in the game right now because of the power of it, the speed of Titan melee and the capability to deal AoE damage or immediately get your melee back. You can run max armor, no other class can max out a stat, and still be the fastest in a match with Titan skate. FoH has a large radius for effect, can hit enemies above below or through walls, and literally shuts down every other super. And regardless of how top tier players use striker Titans, shoulder charge is a 1hk melee with crazy tracking, and the only recharge is a short sprint, you can even shoulder charged while suppressed by a suppression grenade. I love my Titan but don't go saying that they're underpowered. Because I promise you they're not

You are a mediocre troll at best. Just behind the users I have muted.

buff titans bunglet
-
If you think Titans are underpowered in pvp, I'd hate to see what overpowered is to you.
-
Oh cry me a damn river. Titans clearly aren't underpowered in any aspect of the game and everybody with at least half a brain knows it.
-
Titans are great in PvP if used right. Save your slam and use Twilight Garrison for mobility. The best thing to become better at PvP is mobility and Titans are extremely good at moving around the map if built correctly.
-
Completely agree but with about 80% of players running only hunters in pvp it just isn't discussed enough to get traction. You just can't go into the crucible without tripping over all the hunters.
-
Titans are the best class in pve where it matters.... Crucible is a training ground

This article is pretty old and came out before TTK. A lot has changed since then. I don't doubt that Titans are underused but they are not necessarily underpowered. A very slight buff to sunbreakers and a slight buff to defenders would be fine.
-
I only play as titan in PvE
-
That article is from 2015 before titans had changes made to them.
-
In PvP they are hard to played well, I hope bungie buff it a lil bit again
