For all you who dislike the so called "Wombo Combo" ask yourself this, was it really so bad? The nightstalker class was an amazing addition for the Hunter, especially since they lacked what is needed for a so called "PvE class" back in year one. All is good in this subclass but one thing, the grenades! The only somewhat effective grenade is the vortex grenade, and without lockdown it's almost completely useless. Using the smoke grenade (while sacrificing invisibility for poison) with the vortex grenade made an excellent and effective grenade for a subclass without one.
But at what cost? You have to use both your grenade charge and melee charge, along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs. To me this seemed like a balanced combo since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless. Especially in a world where both other classes have a grenade that can either one hit you, or cause some serious damage.
Edit: I have no issues with Walocks and their firebolt. For a hunter I am also pro warlock, just though I should clear that up since so many ppl assume I complain about that.

The name is bad but that's about it.

Edited by Darches: 4/28/2016 7:08:45 PMYou don't need to use your grenade like that. I use Spike and Envenomed Smoke separately. Envenomed Smoke is more OP than firebolts because you're doomed when it hits. At least you can run while burning from a Firebolt. It's already bad enough that Nightstalkers get the best in ground evasion that doesn't require you to be airborne or use your jump or exotic armor.
-
I mean I here about people complaining about it, but I can count on my finger the number of deaths I have to it
-
That's why I laugh when people compare firebolts to the wombo combo lol
-
It should be removed from the game. Just like VF Firebolts. They're both the most overpowered class abilities in this game.
-
Anyone else prefer void wall over vortex ? I feel like vortex always misses.
-
I've come across more hunters missing completely with their wombo combo. Double nade wasted. I'm just salty about it when it hits. Otherwise I don't care.
#NOSUBCLASSNERF2016
Muted.

Wombo combo requires a grenade (usually vortex, maybe voidwall) AND a melee charge. The melee charge has to be set to envenom, AND you have to pick a perk to extend the duration instead of giving orbs to allies. Almost the entirety of the subclass gets geared around it just for a few kills per match. Meanwhile, other subclasses can just run fusion grenades and get a similar amount of kills without having to center their subclass around it. The grenades for nightstalker are extremely lackluster by themselves, smoke bomb simply compliments them and helps you secure kills. It's incredibly balanced if you ask me.
-
Fusion and flux grenades make any complaint of the wombo combo invalid.
-
Nope. It costs a Hunter a full melee and grenade charge for, usually, one kill.
-
I'm only tired of the smoke killing me when I've moved outside its radius
-
I dont think wombo combo needs a nerf. But to get some of this hate off the combo Bungo could replace spike grenade with suppression grenade, thus allowing an alternative to their usual strat.
-
Edited by sneakymokey: 4/28/2016 5:59:56 PMDoT doesn't belong in any pvp mode. Bungie needs to learn from this for destiny 2
-
Hunter is my main class and it gets frustrating to be on receiving end. Grenade hits you, try to double jump out, smoke then comes and immediately prevents that
-
Depending on the map, spike grenades are actually pretty good on their own.
-
The worst thing about the wombo is trying to escape it by strafing into the voidwalls fire lol...I get more angry at myself than at the enemy every time
-
The problem is the vortex nade. It does not trap like the warlocks.
-
I'd be ok with smoke if it didn't blind and slow you down, while damaging you.
-
I agree with you, they should reduce the blindness effects of the smoke though.
-
Yeah, it's pretty bad. I don't think it should be nerfed or anything. But it's really annoying.
-
What exactly is this wombo combo ppl speak of?
-
I rarely ever die to that combo. That goes for pretty much every weapon and ability in the game though. The thing I die from the most are supers. And I expect that. They are supers after all. Your typical, rational person over the age of 15 will accept that there are better players in this world than themselves. Any rational, semi-intelligent person will also figure out a way to stop getting killed by the same thing over and over gain. It's only the little children and butt hurt cry babies that cry for nerfs and complain about anything that kills them more than once. Likely because they are too stupid or lazy to figure out a strategy or theyjust flat out suck.

Edited by bobIin the goblin: 4/28/2016 4:39:00 PMi wouldn't compain about wombo if i could do one of these things inside of it just one not all, pick any. 1)sprint 2)double jump 3)have a radar 4)see shit since the last one isn't happening it should at least be one of the other three because the smoke bomb is better at supressing than the supressor grenade

100% agree
