For all you who dislike the so called "Wombo Combo" ask yourself this, was it really so bad? The nightstalker class was an amazing addition for the Hunter, especially since they lacked what is needed for a so called "PvE class" back in year one. All is good in this subclass but one thing, the grenades! The only somewhat effective grenade is the vortex grenade, and without lockdown it's almost completely useless. Using the smoke grenade (while sacrificing invisibility for poison) with the vortex grenade made an excellent and effective grenade for a subclass without one.
But at what cost? You have to use both your grenade charge and melee charge, along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs. To me this seemed like a balanced combo since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless. Especially in a world where both other classes have a grenade that can either one hit you, or cause some serious damage.
Edit: I have no issues with Walocks and their firebolt. For a hunter I am also pro warlock, just though I should clear that up since so many ppl assume I complain about that.

100% agree

I have an overall issue with smoke grenades. A punch override shouldnt be able to blind, damage and slow with a decent radius and lasts for long enough that you can make a bagel then come back and shoot them in the head to kill.
-
Ok there is no reason for the smoke to blind, damage, and slow it's ridiculous even w/o the nade it's ridiculous because you can just shoot the blind retarded guy you just created. Just remove the slow if toxin is equipped and its fine. The movement surprise ion should be limited to the snare perk (or whatever it's called it the last one in that tier)

Edited by Binx: 4/28/2016 3:34:18 PMThe chance of me getting out a well placed wombo is 0, because I'm a Titan and I panic way to much.
-
I don't understand why smoke slows me down that's just stupid
-
I just think the smoke itself has too many uses in one thing. It sticks, damages, blinds, removes radar, and removes your double jump. Reality it's annoying when it happens to me but on the other hand when my wambo game is on point I'm usually going flawless so take the good with the bad I suppose

It's op. Gtfo

You've obviously never used Void Spikes

Half of the time people escape the wombo combo anyway... I can't even recall being killed by it except for rare occasions when I'm in a position I shouldn't be in the first place. I main nightstalker and I'd say out of the many times I've used it...only a small percent of people actually die from the combo and not from me having to expose myself and burn their health a bit more to get the kill. It's no worse than a tripmine, since those can kill you much faster and don't take a full melee and grenade slot to use. Half of the grenades in the game now can kill in 1 shot...even at full armor. Yet the nightstalkers smoke + grenade combo only kills if you're bad enough to run right into it... If they nerf nightstalker anymore...it will be useless in PvP. It already has the weakest super alongside the titan bubble. This is why you see about 10 gunslingers or bladedancers to every 1 nightstalker in crucible. Nightstalker definitely isn't the best subclass for PvP and it's useful mainly for PvE activities.

I did a wombo combo on a pack of noobs clustered around the heavy ammo crate this morning. A bright spot in an otherwise sucky morning.

I find that whenever I die to the Wombo Combo, most of the times I had overextended myself in the first place. It's not that hard to avoid, I'll usually get caught in it, but I won't be in the middle of it so I can usually escape with half my shields left.
-
I'm fine with the damage it does but I should be allowed to at least jump out of it

No subclass gets to have 2 grenades types at 1 time. That's why it shouldn't be a melee. Now you want to say that the smoke is a melee charge, but how many melees can hit someone from 30 feet away, behind cover? The throwing knife is the only thing similar, but you need a sightline to actually hit someone, as opposed to smoke which just needs to be in the vicinity. Envemomed smoke should have been it's own grenade, not a melee. It shouldn't be combined with a second grenade to make a combo, it should have been it's own style of grenade because the poison is effective on it's own. As for the other classes having better grenades, the Stormcaller has awful grenades for PvP, and only an average PvE grenade. Bladedancer has some pretty crappy grenades once arcbolt was nerfed, and the only decent item is skip grenades at this point. Striker titans do not have a 1 hit grenade. Lightning grenades are amazing, but it takes 2 pulses to kill a full health guardian. So this nonsense that you're using a melee charge to get 2 grenades is merely justification to not have it nerfed or changed. No other class can throw 2 types of grenades at once, at a distance for kills. A voidwalker doesn't have the ability to keep enemies inside a vortex grenade longer. Envenomed is basically a second grenade type, that other classes do not have.

Smoke does too much with just one node Smoke (without any perks) should only take away the HUD and blind you If you use venom, it gives damage when you are inside the smoke itself The perk that allows to put smoem traps should also slow down the enemy when the bomb goes off/you thorow to an enemy, and with the perk "lockdown" extend the amount of time it can stay next to a wall. THAT is more balanced. Right know, getting smoked --> 1% of survival

It's not that bad. No nerf needed, thank you. ~That Ain't Falco
-
I agree with OP.
-
Keep it around. I've never been killed by it and I still won't ever play Nightstalker in PvP, so it doesn't bother me at all.
-
Couldn't of said it better myself. Quit with the nerfs people!! Learn to adapt!
-
Invis > Smoke bomb Void wall > vortex Gunslinger > Nightstalker
-
no its what the hunter needed to be good. you can counter that combo with twilight garrison just like you can counter firebolts with shadestep.
-
I think it is plain wrong to attack the class itself in general unless you only see that one class being over used in crucible. Cough cough sunsingers cough cough (used to only see warlock sunsingers). I see goldies and dancers all the time.
-
Nerf fire bolts, nerf wombo combo
-
I couldn't have explained that better, well done.
-
I never though it was that bad just annoying like fire bolt grenades.
-
This is like saying Warlock Grenades are "not bad" either...
