That's the difference between nightstalkers and defenders. Nightstalkers are all about traps and killing, defenders are all about being defensive and supportive.

But you said suppression is the same effect. It isn't. Suppression removes your abilities. I can still remove myself from the situation. Smoke blinds you, slows you and damages you. Unless you get lucky and the hunter runs away or you can kill him, you're dead. If we could still move, we have a chance of fighting back.
