Intuitive Proof #2 If the Universe is Filled With Billions Of Stars, Night Would Not Exist
[i]Intuitive Proofs, Demonstrable Reasons: Why The Earth Is Flat[/i]
Pt 2
The above gif illustrates this obvious fact quite well. If the universe is full of billions of galaxies all containing billions of stars, night would not even be possible. The universe should be one big "glare". Saying the universe is finite only makes the problem worse: ever try shinning a flash light in your face? If finite, the universe might as well be a flashlight: tons of light packed into a limited space.
Also, judging from my last post, you all seem fine with the idea that stars are "blinking" on. If so, every new star we get just adds to the problem.

Dude, take a flashlight go out to a field where you have a kilometre of unobstructed line of sight at night time. Place the torch on a stand, pull out a book and read a paragraph or two. See how easy that was? Cool, now head directly away from the torch with it pointing at your back as you walk away, keep walking until you are a kilometre away. Now turn around and note that you can still see that the torch is on and producing light, still with me? Good, now pull your book out and try to read another paragraph or two of your book in the light from that torch......notice how you can't see a damn thing on that page? That's because light dissipates, genius. [spoiler]#2 busted. This is way too easy. Honestly, you aren't really dumb enough to believe the crap that comes out of your head, are you?[/spoiler]

3 Replies1. Well technicaly the universe IS one big "glare" but since our eyes can only see a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum we can only see the physical colours. Technology that can see the whole electromagnetic spectrum will prove to you there's alot more going on in those blank spaces that we just can't see. 2. Things are to far away to see, yes photons can travel infinity but there too small to pick up on. Sort of like you know there's atoms in the air but you can't see them, just like the dark spots in space, light from there is hitting you all the time but you just can't see it, too small/too far away.

It does indeed take a very long time for those light photons to reach us in which they can get distorted or scatted into such a small anount that our eyes cannot see. We live in a 3 dimensional reality where we have depth. If they were on a 2 dimensional plane such as the gif then possibly it may look like that but that is not the case. These stars are nowhere near close to each other so there collective light they emit is not at all that bright to us. I havent even begun to tell you how the earths atmosphere as well as our own light pollution have made many stars disappear from our relative view not to mention its possible that a few have blinked out of existence because the light from those stars is traveling at lightspeed and still takes millions to billions of years to reach us and may not even exist anymore. [b]ALSO[/b] our eyes can only pick up a specific wavelength on the color spectrum, this light has to be very specific AND has to be PROJECTED INTO OUR VERY direction in a decent enough quantity that we can actually see it. the stars are emitting heat as well as light so no all of their energy is used to be glactic lightbulbs. We are also viewing the universe from a long time ago. Since we can only see what small amount of potential light hits us there could be many thousands of stars we dont see yet because its light has not reached us(or yet never will) Take a pen. And tap it on a peice of paper. You are a star that emitted enough light for a planet millions to billions of light years away to see you. The rest of the paper? Those planets cant see you because the light you emmited was not sufficient enough, has become distorted by some other cosmic object, or simply hasnt reached it yet. BUT WAIT THERES MORE! Our planet is constantly rotating so that means that we dont have a 360 degree view of ALL the stars in the sky, not to mention we are shooting through space while orbiting around the sun [b]while our solar system and the galaxy is shooting through the ever expanding universe![/b] [u]I await your reply.[/u]

You don't think the universe has billions of stars? Here is intuitive proof it does in step form so anyone can do it themselves. 1: wait until midnight (so you can see the stars). 2: go out side and lay on your back, staring at the sky. 3: count the stars. 4: lose track at a million 5: realise there are to many stars to accurately count. And your done! *gets sprinkled*

Here. Let me explain to you in a way you would understand God put a filter in our atmosphere that blocks out a lot of the stars lights. Thats why you the sky isnt bright from all the stars.

3 RepliesMy rebuttal Everything you see in the night sky is what it looked like about a few billion years ago, light has a travel time. A light year, (astronomical term used to describe distances between stars and such) is defined as the distance light travels in a year. Our galaxy is about 100 light years across. So, 100 years for all the stars in our galaxy to appear. But then we have other galaxies. Hundreds of billions of light years away. We witness the universe in the night sky as it was 5-10 billion years after it was created. The sky may one day be like a giant spotlight, but not for a while.

Scientists say that the universe sometime will look like that from our perspective LONG from now. Space and time are the same, so the farther away in space we look, the farther away in time we look (into the past that is). So in fact, there are many more stars than the ones we see, and all the stars we do see (besides the sun) have most likely burned out by now. We are merely seeing the past when there were less stars.

If I place a lightbulb over a flat table, the whole table is lit - meaning that it should be daytime here in the US, as well as all over the world at the same time. EDIT: Also, let me add that this argument you've put forth, even if successful, would only go to show that the universe is not as big as we originally thought. It has nothing to say about the geometry of the earth. Let me also add that we live in a non-euclidean geometry reality. I want to hear your arguments against that fact.
