Lag sucks. Everyone blames the red bars. I think a lot of the issue is caused by shitty networking more than individual shitty Internet.
Matchmaking also plays a role.

Both play a role into it. Latency on this game is a huge problem. But when you hit someone with a super and they survive because of lag it just gets old really fast

Bro I have this clip from 2 iron banners ago Run up 6 people grabbing heavy, nova bomb them. Of course no one dies although they all stand still I spawn, teammates waiting for me to get heavy Enemy void walker runs up gets a 6 kill nova bomb Turned off my Xbox at that point lol

RED BARS are only a visual reading of your direct connection to that other player. They may have a great connection but your connection to that player may be bad ...and their connection to other players might be great.....

It's amazing how many people think there's no chance this could be the issue. Like I just posted up top this is the only online game I've ever played that I have a red bar. And after reading the Kotaku article about how it takes 8 hours just to open up a map editor, I'm starting to lean towards the networking code just not being very good.

for most people there are no issues with destiny. Destiny the game DOES NOT route internet traffic btw. They have no access....only ISPs do.

Indeed. You just don't see this bad of a latency issue in other online shooters. Many of which have largely the same player base as Destiny.

Hey dude, I do those activities from time to time. If you are on PS4 feel free to add me. PSN is ZOMBIE-SI_AYER (that's a capital i and an underscore for the L in slayer). That said, I would recommend grinding iron banner until it is gone. There is no activity in Destiny right now where you can get legendary drops at higher light level than your character's total light as plentifully or consistently as IB right now. I'll be on later in the evening if you want to do some stuff together. I can still do Challenge of Elders this week and raid, but I don't raid much.
