Why Do People Feel The Need To Hate Games That Are Popular?
Upon hearing of someone's excitement or interest in a popular game, many will immediately express their opinion in an unnecessarily disrespectful way. Why is this?[spoiler]inb4 "because I can do whatever I want" edgy kids[/spoiler]

Edited by ValiantVic: 5/13/2016 11:52:05 AMI think in [i]some[/i] instances there are people who genuinely dislike a particular game because of personal tastes, but usually those people demonstrate respect and provide legitimate reasoning to detail their opinion. More often I get the impression that other people like to talk trash about particular games because it is attention grabbing. After all it is popular to be edgy and confrontational at any opportunity. There may also be an issue where they have to play favorites because they can't play them all. This could be due to lack of time, lack of money, or lack of both... "can't have it, so trash it" mentality.

Each new COD could have just been a DLC of the one before it. 1 new feature and some new maps, and the same overwhelmingly half-assed story.

1 ReplyMy best guess? It branches from the need that everyone has to want to stand out. People will deliberately go out of their way to do something different (usually having a negative opinion on something popular) in order to be unique in some way. There's nothing wrong with that, but it angers others due to the negativity. Basically, I think it's just human nature.
