The other day, I was playing King's Fall with my raid team. As I played, I was listening to Sound of Silence, Disturbed's version of course, and it got me thinking. The whole song is dark and somber, quite fitting for Oryx, or so I thought.
I thought the line, "And in the naked light I saw, ten thousand people maybe more." Would be like the guardians that kill Oryx were remembering all the guardians that were killed by Oryx. Here's the kicker. Lore wise, we are the first guardians that fought Oryx. And we kill him in both realms on the first run.
So, I started thinking. Who is the deadliest endgame boss? Atheon? Crota? Skolas(h*** no)? Oryx? Here's what I got.
Atheon- Three guardians, Kabr, Praedith, and Pahanin, went into the Vault of Glass. This was supposed to be just another strike. They were confident and strong, but they were no match for what hid inside. The Templar and the oracles erased the fireteam from existence, one by one.
When Kabr's team never returned, the Vanguard sent more teams to either rescue them and/or complete the mission, kill Atheon. Many guardians died in the Vault. Hundreds. Thousands.
It wasn't until about a decade later when six powerful guardians (us) were brought back and sent into the Vault of Glass. With the help of the Aegis built by Kabr, we killed Atheon. His reign was over.
Do you want the proof that thousands of guardians were killed in the Vault? Go to the chamber just outside of Atheon's room and look around. Those white specs flying around are ghost cores lost.
Crota- On the moon, a great war raged. Ten thousand guardians fought the invading Hive on the cratered surface of Luna. The battle lasted for years and neither side was gaining ground. Where the guardians wielded Light, the Hive wielded Darkness.
The knight, Crota son of Oryx, joined the front lines and slayed many guardians. It was that knight that conquered the moon and reduced the guardians' strength to a tenth of what it was. The battle was known as the Great Disaster.
When Crota hid in the core of the moon, he became a legend in his own right. Years later, Hive activity increased. It was Eriana-3 that led a six member raid team into the Oversoul Throne. They attempted to kill Crota, but were killed instead. Adding five more kills to Crota's toll.
Eris, the only survivor of Eriana's team, was lucky to find the guardians responsible for Atheon. It was them (us) that went into the pit and ended Crota's killing spree. (He almost beat the Architect's kill streak).
Skolas- Skolas was responsible for the Cybel Uprising. Many Awoken were killed, but they did succeed in capturing the House of Wolves. When the guardian visited the Queen while seeking for the Black Garden, the House of Wolves were serving as the Queen's personal guard as punishment.
Skolas also led the second rebellion against the Awoken. This second battle led to even more Awoken deaths. The Queen asked for many guardians to assist in the hunt of the House of Wolves. Several guardians died, but three guardians (us) captured Skolas.
In the Prison of Elders, more guardians were killed. Skolas fended himself off of many assassination attempts. It was the three guardians that imprisoned Skolas (*sighs* us) that killed him.
Oryx- When Oryx arrived, the Awoken fleet engaged him above Saturn. The battle was short lived, ending when Oryx unleashed his super weaopn. His Oversoul turned into the primary cannon of the Dreadnought.
Oryx Took Cabal stationed on Phobos. The base was destroyed. When three guardians (us once again) arrived, the Taken had already overrun the base. Cabal and Hive were fighting alongside each other as Taken, servants of Oryx.
The three guardians of legend found Oryx's ascendant realm hidden inside the Dreadnought. They fought Oryx and banished him from the material realm. Oryx Took himself before he was killed.
It wasn't long until the guardians formed a raid team and fought Oryx again. This time, Oryx was killed and knocked into Saturn's gravity.
Oryx killed many Awoken and Took legions of other species. Unlike his son and many other beings of high importance, no guardians were killed by Oryx. The six guardians (us) were the first guardians to engage him, and we succeeded.
Out of all the endgame bosses, Oryx was the only one who had no guardian kills. Even his son did, yet he still calls himself King. Hmm. Tell me what y'all think.
Keep fighting, Guardians

The greatest enemies in Destiny are the red bars
-
Actually 6 people were in Kabr's team. Praedyth, Kabr, And pahnanin were just the most important. At least that's what I got from the grimoire
-
I cringed when you called the failure on the moon the great collapse it was actually called the great failure
-
Oryx for sure, Atheon was limited to the vault, skolas was captured twice and possessed no real extraordinary abilities, in the book of sorrows it's told that oryx picked up Crota and threw him through a wormhole when he was upset so I'm gonna say oryx beats Crota lol
-
Ehh I've seen a lagging blade dancer. He got a 7th column that day.

the deadliest enemy in destiny is
salt and sweat
Sword Logic. Atheon was weak enough for us to just straight up kill without much power buildup from SL, and Crota was powerful enough to where we had to kill Atheon and numerous Hive generals to be able to fight him. By the time Oryx showed up, we were vastly overpowered and only became more powerful as we wiped out his command staff and the rest of his family. Oryx, despite having no confirmed Guardian kills, is by far the most powerful entity seen in all of Destiny besides the Legend; even the Traveler was -blam!-ing terrified of him, and technically Atheon was just a cheap attempt to copy him.

Randal the Vandal with dual wield gjallarhorn
-
Nope its the taken psions. Think you can kill a taken psion? You cant. That taken psion makes another taken psion right before it dies. You can't win against the taken psion.
-
Remember in HoW the Wolfpack leader in forgotten shore. Must've been a friend of Randal because when she first showed up nothing could get her shields down and keep them down. Until the hotfix....

People seem to forget the most evil and malicious enemies in destiny.
The FREAKING Zoo of Bungie Error Codes!!! Oh and evil fruit error codes!!!
Now you could argue it's tied with
Nerfs. Or trolls that cry for nerfs.
THE DEADLIEST BEING IN THE HISTORY OF THE DESTINY UNIVERSE IS.......
Misadventures.
Countless Guardians have lost their lives to this Unforgiving Adversary.
-
Crota and Aetheon didn't have to fight us right off the bat like Oryx did.
-
Looking at the lore, Oryx is the deadliest one. He has destroyed so many worlds that He and all His minions have lost count, He beat the Vex (Atheon only copies Oryx) and he has possibly the most powerful ship in any game or movie I have seen.
-
This list is not complete you forgot the true master of fear and the strongest boss Randal the Vandal
-
You lost me when you said Disturbed's version, of course." The definitive version of that song is always going to be the original. No one can do that song justice like Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. To say different is pure heresy. Especially when it's a butt rock band like disturbed.

ITS THE GAME ITSELF

I dunno, but if we ever get taken versions of the Architects or Misadventure I'm uninstalling the game in fear.
