This is one of the most corrupt and pathetic things that Bungie had done since the launch of TTK and the fact that it's gone almost unnoticed and not discussed about more is a travesty. It's time to stand up and say no more and expose the Bungie team for taking every single aspect of the game and watering it down without explanation and sucking the fun out of the game.
Beware, it's a long post but a good read!
And before we get started, yes I am aware of the glimmer cap and no, I don't have max glimmer. I never maintain max glimmer and neither should you.
Bungie has put a hidden cool down on glimmer. Meaning that once you receive "x" amount of glimmer in a certain time, you will stop receiving glimmer for a certain time before you start obtaining glimmer again.
For example, if you kill all the Fallen in the first room of the Omnigul strike really fast with supers, heavy and etc. You will most likely not obtain any glimmer from killing the Fallen in the next part. The glimmer amount won't appear on screen and it doesn't give you any glimmer secretly. Basically we get punished for killing mobs of enemies real fast and would have to slowly work our way through whatever we are doing to avoid hitting the glimmer cool down. I think if you hit about 200 glimmer within a certain timeframe, the cool down activates for a good minute or so before you can get glimmer again. Sometimes if you die, the cool down will go away faster.
Also, Glimmer consumables don't stack if you have a ghost shell that gives you glimmer for killing a certain type of enemy. For example, if you have a Ghost Shell that gives you Glimmer for killing fallen equipped and you pop a Black Wax Idol. You will not receive any glimmer for killing Hive. The one way for glimmer consumables to work is to have the default ghost shell equipped when you first start a character! AND the 10 min consumable has a glimmer cool down too! So you won't be getting glimmer for all 10 mins of the consumable you use! How messed up is that?
I have attached a video of proof that the glimmer cool down exists. It's not my video and credit goes to the uploader! Watch and see how he stops getting glimmer and XP after killing a certain amount of hive enemies! You also won't get any engrams from them either. I know you can't farm this. The only thing you can get are those glimmer consumables from killing yellow-bars. But the cool down exists. Play the omnigul strike, kill a bunch of taken enemies in a nightfall or on patrol. You will notice it. Could you imagine other games having a cool down on the currency you need to purchase items?
This is pathetic!

Edited by Maxximus Aurelius Rexx: 5/25/2016 12:00:26 PMI played for 3h straight last night and got less than 1000 with buffs on, why does it matter how much glimmer I have or get? I actually noticed a difficulty increase last night as well (which isn't bad), I usually crush heroics with an occasional death, we were dying like 20 times each every strike, like enemies one-shotting you from literally the other side of the map, it's actually pretty awesome, but the glimmer thing is pretty gay.

Edited by Luckdog26: 5/20/2016 5:30:50 AMYou do realize that farming glimmer from patrol missions is faaarrr quicker than farming glimmer from enemies ever was. And there is no cap on patrol glimmer. Also, glimmer isn't a useful commodity any more. So who really cares.
-
Mmm yes, glimmer. So important to me and my well being in Destiny. I am always at or near the max glimmer cap anyway. Who cares...

Never go full retard

You are a bad troll, and your satires are weak. You could see this coming from a mile away, honestly didn't reas past the first sentence.. That post about the homophobic shit could've been your key to a good satire, but you messed it up.

The changes to glimmer with TTK really annoyed me. It's such a waste of a black wax idol that lasts 10 minutes if you stop earning before half that time. The fact majors don't automatically give you 25 glimmer on death without a buff active is annoying too. Also, your video is a good demonstration of the pyramids-falling-through-the-floor glitch that has been in the game since the start (it's particularly bad on the Dreadnaught).

Is this all about glimmer? Whoopidy do!
-
Breaking News: Bungie execs indicted on glimmer embezzlement, racketeering and tax fraud!
-
-
first, this is not corruption, buy a dictionary. second, I know it's really hard living in the first world where you have a house a job and enough to eat but you have to wait a whole minute before receiving a little more glimmer. third, what could you possibly be buying that makes 200 glimmer per few minutes not enough?
-
There are these things outside called girls,go get one.
-
Satire? If so this was GREAT BAIT!!
-
Lump.

So here is my recommendation, nothing groundbreaking but it's how I manage my glimmer in destiny. I earn and spend as needed to keep myself from going up to or over the glimmer cap then I also save all of the items I can turn into the cryptarch for 200 glimmer each eg silken codex, that's my bank roll/savings account which i keep in my vault. If im upgrading a ton of stuff and I need to go over the glimmer cap then I use my bank roll to top off my glimmer. At any one time I keep roughly 200-300 silken codex in vault which means I have like 50-60k glimmer available instead of 25k.
-
LOL. Who uses glimmer?
-
You should apply for a job at Fox news with titles like that for something so meaningless
-
Old news. Pretty obvious and since there's a small amount of actual content all they do is extend the grind.
-
I don't feel affected. My Glimmer will sit full for weeks at a time because there is nothing to use it on. It's just the most primary material in a game full of useless materials.
-
It was a post loot cave 1.0 secret add on.. People were not only farming engrams but very fast glimmer. This has been in the game for a long time now and I can agree with why it is there.
-
Glimmer is very easy to get even with the cool down that has been around for a long time. This is a non-issue.
-
the real question is Why? I do remember the days when there was no cap...lol
-
It is so you can't go crazy buying weapon parts or heavy ammo for rep.
-
I'm always hitting cap I just make sure I have applicable ghost equipped when killing fallen or etc..
-
I dislike the glimmer cool down A LOT, but your title is very misleading.
-
Olddddd news bro

Further, why is our currency capped anyway? Legendary marks and glimmer specifically. We earn it and should be able to bank it as we see fit. Total BS. If I spend the hours grinding/farming anything why should I be penalized with a cap? I would love to be able to bank legendary marks and buy a set of weapons/armor from the crucible quartermaster or find a good perk roll from a vendor and supply each of my guardians with said weapon. How many times have you embarked on an daily and then realized you should have hit the tower first to load up on relic iron because you're at 200? On another note- I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BUY F-ING ARMOR MATERIALS!!!!!!!!!!! -bitch session over-
