Exotic History: Time's Reclamation #5
This installment of Exotic History (and virtually every other through his post) is made possible by Paradox1055
The quiet orchestra of beeps and tones echoed gently throughout the halls as silence fell upon the party. Each tone gave birth to a new thought, memory, or emotion within them but also it stole other thoughts away. These orchestral tones were the conductors to their new existence or their end, as they wrote the score. The Hunter drew his weapon and looked around, taking in the scenery silently as the orchestra swelled and dimmed in volume in the echoing cave. He looked to Arteron and Blitz and held up his hand as he slowly walked forward to a large rock and peered past it. A Harpy coated in streams of white data strands and tendrils whisked about, furiously looking for something. It's tone was frantic and angered, producing a sharper more destructive melody. It's pale eye flickered and flashed around as the Hunter backed out of sight. The Gorgon jittered a bit more and sped off, continuing it's search. The Hunter sighed and started to turn as he saw a helmet stick over his shoulder. "Can we kill it?" The Hunter jumped slightly and clutched his chest as Blitz looked at his curiously. He growled softly. "No!... And be quiet! They might hear you!" "Who? The thingy...?" "SHHH!!" The Hunter wrapped his hands around Blitz's helmet in vain. "Why?..." "Because... oh hell..." "Its a game." Arteron was sitting above them, scouting ahead slightly. "It's like hide and seek." "Sounds boring..." Blitz gave an antsy shuffle. "I want to kill stuff." "Yea... Hide and seek is boring... unless..." Blaze started to respond but the Hunter cut him off. "But there are rules you have to follow!..." Blaze and Blitz stared uninterested as the Hunter. "Uh... It's exactly like Hide and Seek and ah... a maze! You have to... get to the other side without being seen!" "That sounds easy." "And boring..." Blaze chimed in. "Catch is, if you are caught. You die." "We can respawn...." "Not this time. Cause these guys like to cheat." "Seriously?!" Blitz shouted. "SSHHH!!... The point is... we have to make it to the other side... so we can kill... their boss." "Huh?" "Yea! If we make it across, we face the big bad and he spawns countless enemies all of which you can kill! Endlessly!" Blitz paused for a moment, clearly thinking this over. Blaze rolled his eye. "Yea so? How long will this take?" "Depends on how long we take, the longer we take... the more enemies pop up." "So... by being patient... the enemy gets more troops to stop us..." "And more things to kill! See? Simple logic right?" "Yea... Yea that might...!" "SHHHHH!!!" "Right... Blaze what you think?" Blitz looked expectedly at his Ghost. Blaze spun in place and looked at the Hunter. "You sure?" "Well if you want to leave now then I guess you can just go home and save the fun for me..." "No wait!... I'll go... I guess." Blitz grumbled a bit as he kicked a rock a little. "Excellent! Follow Arteron and don't mess up otherwise you won't make it to the boss." Blitz grumbled again and climbed up to the top with Arteron. The Hunter pointed forward. "Stick to the top and hop around. Look for a hole in the wall next to stone pillars. I'll stay below and look for something." Arteron nodded a bit. "Come on moron." He quietly glided to the next rock with Blitz in tow. The Hunter sighed with relief and slowly walked along the base of the rocks. He checked corners, cracks and holes while avoiding Gorgons. Each passing one was searching more and more furiously and each tone was becoming more angered, to the point where the morbid mood became almost overbearing. The Hunter slowly began to think of evil things. Things he had done, these he should have done, people he should have killed, enemies he should have cut the throats clean off... He shook his head quickly, expelling the thoughts. He searched for several more minutes until he came across the pillars that he mentioned earlier. He slowly walked forward as he saw Blitz and Arteron debating over something in hushed tones. "The f*** are you so pissy for?" "I'm sick and tired of this Hunter! Thinks he can trick me, the b******!... There's nothing here!" "Wait patiently dips***. The time will come." "Easy for you to say! You are probably in on it with him!" "What? Listen to yourself and stop thinking. You were never good at it." Blitz grabbed Arteron's robes and yanked him forward. "Don't lie to me!" "You better watch it before I knock some teeth into your stomach." They glared at each other as the Hunter stepped forward. "What's going...?" Blitz furiously looked his way and began to walk over but Arteron placed his hand on his chest. The two stared at each other for several more seconds in tense anger. The Hunter sighed. "Can't we just get out of..." He paused as a 'Psst!' caught his attention. He spun around as a Ghost was slightly sticking his head out of a cave. It was a polished white Ghost, though slightly mucked in dirt, with a holographic blue top hat and thin monocle upon its shell and core. It's voice was very British in nature and it spoke in an angered hushed whisper. "For dear sakes old chaps! Clam your ungrateful mouths before we are caught by..." He stopped as he looked at the Hunter. "Well by jove!" He raced over. "About time dear boy!" "Terrance!" The Hunter smiled. "Finally found you!" "And it's a good thing you did! Those blasted Gorgons would have soon caught me and skinned me like a Siberian Tiger. Probably would have used me like one too." "Who's this?" Blitz asked, still rather pissed. "Oh excuse me, where are my manners? I am Freedrick Van Glaussen Deterrence IV. But Terrence will do nicely." "What?..." Blitz cocked his head. "Hm... Not the most... Astute type is he?..." "You have no idea..." The Hunter said with a sigh. "Ah... All well and good... Now ah... let's just go... before something else happens..." "Not yet." Blitz looked back to Arteron. "We haven't finished our business yet." "There's no business if you just back off moron." "I will not." "Guys guys! Take it easy. We need to..." "No! I won't be quiet and I won't just leave! I came to kill something and that's what I'll do!" Blitz started to burn in anger. Arteron's hands and shoulders began to burn as well. "Then let's go tough guy. You got what it takes?" "Sure as hell I do!" The two growled at each other some more. "Please we have to leave! Before..." A piercing screech stopped their conversation as they all looked to the side. A Gorgon, it's melody skyrocketing to a climax, was staring at them. It's body was glowing furiously and with ill intent. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/183208729/0/0 link to part 4 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/207040015/0/0 link to part 6 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/169355748/0/0/1 link to Time's Reclamation
