Remember VHS tapes? CD's? DVD's? Shit even flash drives are getting to be outdated. This thought came across my mind today, and I figured it may make a good discussion. Introducing the Internet to human society has undoubtedly allowed us to advance as a species exponentially, however we have seen some drawbacks.
By drawbacks I mean things like physical memory being gradually phased out, so the business making this physical memory is going to be hurt. Similarly, Blockbuster didn't stand a chance to stand up to Netflix, and now it's pretty much dead.
How far can we push this? 3d printing houses, virtual reality education etc. Why does the future human need money? Is money going to become an obsolete idea in the future?

This is why we build robots to do our jobs for us and then live like the people from Star Trek where everyone can live freely and dedicate themselves to scientific discovery and space exploration purely for the sake of mankind's advancement.
