In the video I shared, COD in general is bashed pretty hard. He talks about how other games are "copying COD" by making skill gap compression a thing. However, in the video, he doesn't mention Destiny once. Does this mean that Destiny isn't doing this? I mean, we have SBMM, which the community seems to have brainwashed to say it's bad. But that's a topic for another thread. Anyway, watch this, keep Destiny in mind, and then discuss below. A few questions crossed my mind, I'll be posting them in the spoilers below.
Is the alternative to SBMM skill gap compression? Would skill gap compression be better than SBMM?

Why isn't Destiny ever mentioned? It's an FPS, and he mentioned plenty of each kind, those who copy and those who don't.

If COD dies off, where will it's players go? What would happen to this community if all the COD players joined it?
Anyway, discuss. Also, ninjas, if you feel this thread needs to be moved, please pm me or comment below to talk about why, because I feel this is strongly Destiny related.

I swear most of this post is just me and you. Btw you post a lot. I see at least 3 posts a day. Why do you post so much?

Sorry about convoluted rambling responses. I get carried away. But one thing i will add is the gaming community is extremely hypocritical. Recent example overwatch. Battlefront got so much shit when it came out with limited maps, weapons even though customization was decent with so many different playstyles available with some more prevalent than others. Overwatch comes out with no single player at all very little customization but a variety of playstyles some more prevalent (bastion) but is praised. The community doesnt know what it wants any more. Well theres an example of my rambling.

If all the cod players join destiny then these forums will be worse than they already are. If it does die off it will most likely be players grow out of the game while new players join other games and never play cod but that wont happen any time soon

Destiny isnt mentioned because its primarily supposed to be pve so skill gap progression isnt supposed to matter. But that went out the window a while ago.

Edited by e4064495: 5/28/2016 9:00:04 PMThe questions will be answered in their own replies. Skill gap compression is an alternative to sbmm but means a player who just started the game can easily kill a player who's been playing for years. So would be worse than sbmm because those who put a lot of time in arent rewarded for efforts. Sbmm means as you progress you learn tactics for that tier of skill and progress to the next and repeat.

Skill compression and SBMM are two very different things. But destiny's version of skill compression is the free super (charges over time/no kills required) firebolts. Shade Step. Fist of panic. Smoke and nade combo. Doctrine. TLW. Etc...

Its because cod is a series that has been doing it and getting away with it for years in this guys opinion but destiny is just less than 2 years. Cod is also a much bigger franchise. Or was.
