Why so much hate on metal? It's somewhat like modern classical music

I accept metal. I am okay with its fanbase. But DO NOT COMPARE IT WITH CLASSICAL MUSIC. EVER. THERE IS NO COMPARISON AND NEVER WILL BE.

Actually they have a number of similarities. They both are fairly theatrical, they are quite complex, they use things like polyrhythms and complex or frequently changing time signatures, often have little repetition and the musicians require a fairly high level of skill to perform the music.

Why? I love classical music and I think that instrumentally metal is really good. I can't stand the "vocals" though.
