Why Not Just Use the Eagles?
Regicide, mission to kill Oryx
Anyone else find it kinda silly, that just before crossing the invisible bridge to Oryx's balcony, you can clearly see that the place where you very first landed on the dreadnought is like 50ft away. just the next ledge to the right.
What was all that stuff about Oryx being sealed behind a locked Portal and needing to steal Crota's soul and everything for then??
When you wreck Eris's ship and Ghost teleports you last second, couldn't he have just, well, aimed for that one next balcony over. Heck maybe even land you right on top of Oryx, telefrag him.

The dreadnaught it two planes of existence layered on top of each other. Reality and the throne world. The throne world can only be accessed at certain points. Besides when we land we are specifically looking to create a beach head to invade not kill oryx. If we landed there he wouldn't be there. He'd probably just laugh and send a shade

If you tried to do it without the Crystal you would land in a hive pit where thrall tickle your gooch for all eternity. -
That's area is his Throne World, so if you just crashed in there, he just wouldn't be there. Technically speaking, he would be there, just on another plane of existence, also we were there to set up a landing zone, not kill Oryx

15 RepliesFor those that don't know, the Bekenstein limit is the theory stating that it is possible maximum 'x' amount of mass to be in a specific area at any given point. What the hive throne workds do, is a. break the laws of the universe and b. break the bekenstein limit. The throne worlds are actuslly really small. Bigger on the inside. Oryxs throne world is literslly his whole dreadnaught so its huge.

We can't just teleport into Oryx's Throne World. We basically had to go to a different dimension.

5 RepliesWhen you entered the Dreadnought, you entered the physical place, not Oryx's Ascendant realm. When you enter the portal you enter his Ascendant Realm (or Throne world), which happens to be inside the Dreadnought, but in another dimension

Partially lazy level design, but it could be a another dimension layed over the one we were in. Basically how the hive broke the beckenstein limit yada yada. Actually messing with multiple dimensions is a hive specialty. I do wonder about that machine though.

Because the Oryx in Regicide isn't the "real" Oryx, that's just his "avatar". The big guy at the end of King's Fall is who you want to look for.
