The medium rate of fire type of auto rifle. What are its strengths and weakness and how does it compare to other weapons in the crucible.
- These fire at 600rpm
- Deal about 16 damage to the body and 20 to the head
- It takes 13 body shots to kill or 10 headshots (at least 9 headshots needed plus 1 body)
- Maximum TTK (if you get all body shots) is 1.2s and Minimum TTK (if you get enough headshots) is 0.9s.
With focused fire:
- These Fire at 400rpm
- Deal about 21 damage to the body and about 27 to the head
- It takes 10 body shots to kill or 8 headshots (minimum of 5 headshots with 3 body shot)
- Maximum TTK (if you get all body shots) is 1.35s and minimum TTK (if you get enough headshots) is 1.05s.
(Note: These stats are note tested, I don’t have one of these guns with FF)
(Edit: I've seen several places that these get reduced all the way to 300rpm with focused fire. Basically just don't get FF on these)
This tier of auto rifle includes the Zarinaea-D (gunsmith), SUROS ARI-41 (gunsmith), Haakon’s Hatchet (Iron Banner), and many others.
These Auto rifles are fairly average overall. They have a moderate time to kill, low damage per shot, and medium range and stability. With counter balance the recoil is easy to control even if you don’t have any other stability perks. This makes them accurate at even long ranges. The issue is that their max range is to short putting them at a disadvantage at these ranges. Even with plenty of range perks you will frequently notice range drop off. At close range their TTK tends to be to slow to kill rushing shotgun users or win in gunfights. With these you’ll lose to faster firing autos, and of course the last word. Legendary hand cannon users can also be difficult to fight since you have to hit constant low damage shots and they can hit only a couple high impact shots, this is must notable when fighting from in and out of cover.
For these auto rifles look to maximize stability and also put a little into range when you can. Counter balance is nearly a must have to make these able to get constant headshots.
As mentioned this class already has a hard time with TTK so adding Focused fire is not necessarily great since it decreases the TTK further. Focused fire will reduce the fire rate below the next lower fire rate tier of auto rifle while increasing the damage to less than 1 point greater. The only real benefit is a above average mag size and easier shooting although you will not be able to also get counterbalance.
Overall I would not recommend these weapons since they have little power and aren’t necessarily (in my opinion) even very fun. They pose little challenge for a skilled player and have no high skill way to make them more effective or fun.
What do you think about this type auto rifle? If you do use these high do you prefer to use them?

Edited by Dr_Sorethumb: 6/7/2016 8:45:43 PMFor me: High RoF autos should be the spray and play bullet hose; leave them as is. Mid RoF autos should reward accuracy; damage is fine, but give the archetype a stability buff across the board making more hits likely to be headshots if aimed correctly. Low RoF autos should be a bit less accurate than their mid RoF counterparts, but hit harder; to fulfil this role I would suggest a damage buff so they kill in 7 headshots instead of 8 (debatable: buff body damage to make them a 9 hit kill to the body instead of 10). No stability buff needed for this archetype.
