Rise of Iron: What this means for Destiny thus far

Alright. This needs to be toned down from the recent s*** storm that is "The Great Generation Divide" as I'm calling it. Let's be civilized and discuss the good and bad about the actual DLC Expansion that is coming out and the executive decision by Bungie to ditch last Gen Note edited*: I am a 360 player with an Xbox One already and I have bought Destiny for the One and 360 so I have a hand in both sides of the spectrum for a fairer analysis. Good: (Rise of Iron DLC) 1. This is great! New content! Just what we have been wanting! New Raid, Patrol Missions, Areas, and much more! 2. It's not free... This logic can be Taken both ways, on the good side: it means this content will hopefully be better since we have to pay to access it. And you can gripe all you want about Dark Below and House of Wolves but they were still better than Vanilla Destiny in content most of the time. 3. The mythos of the Iron Lords will be revealed! I love the concept of the Lord's and I would love to see who they were (plus I'd love to give Felwinter a quick Shoulder Charge to the nuts for that f***ing shotgun) 4. Lord Saladin is a bada** and we will hopefully get to see how he is as a character in more depth. They will also hopefully do this to Shaxx and Zavala as well seeing as they were once his protégés Bad: (Rise of Iron DLC) 1. The premise of the entire story seems... rather sudden. Now there is just a tech disease and the Fallen Devils are involved... Unless I'm missing something, it feels rather sudden unlike Crota who was a part of the mythos to begin with, Oryx responded to us killing his son, and Skolas was a little sudden but it did make sense for him to show us 2. It's not free... This logic can be Taken both ways, on the bad side: I have to pay to enjoy content, nothing new but seeing the free stuff all through this year? Yea it's a minor gripe but a gripe none the less. Good: (Leaving behind 'Last Gen') Edit*1. Destiny can now (hopefully) move on to look better and better. With all honesty the 360 and PS3 are over a decade old... There are newer things out there and we all need to move on. Windows XP was hard to give away too but it's a relic as well 2. All progress relating to your character transfers easily from Last to Next Gen (that is until August-ish of this year) so that's something to celebrate. 3. There can be one larger communities instead of two fragmented ones for each console which helps find friends to play with 4. This will hopefully allow the Rise of Iron to be even greater than expectations with out the limitations of the old hardware (I say that with a grain of salt) Edit*5: Xbox One Destiny looks... AMAZING! It's almost breath-taking the detail that's been put into the game! (This could also me being enthralled at 6am my time but still) Bad: (Leaving behind 'Last Gen') 1. You remember how year one players were pissed off that they had to pay $60 for the base game then another $20-40 in Dark Below and House of Wolves then another $40 for TTK even though the newbies got all that for just $60? Yea now multiply that rage by 10x because those who are stuck Last Gen have to buy the game IN ITS ENTIRETY AGAIN and spend another $30 on top of that for the new content as well as several hundred bucks to even play the d*** thing. Those of you who are saying 'Oh you had time to save money' F*** off, some of us don't exactly have or want to spend over +$500 to play one game. And all you guys were b****ing from the start so don't even. 2. It shuts out those who just bought the game. They were late for the 'hype train' and didn't buy it till now but then they hear 'Oh well guess you have to buy it again!' Its ludicrous and a middle finger to some fans in that respect 3. This should have been saved for Destiny 2, It would have made more sense on a consumer level and a development level instead of just deciding 'Nope! No more content for you!' Edit*4. Well... besides looking pretty and with cool other details... Why was everyone happy Bungie dropped Last Gen? It's the exact same game, albeit with some good tweaks like instant menu loading {Praise the Sun!} Unless RoI does something that will make Destiny Thorn when it was on top or Ghallyhorn good... It's the same game... Current Gen players are not as held back as it seems And what do you guys think? Leave your suggestions on what else is good or bad in the comments below and keep it civil. This is just a game, there is no reason to fight over this and there's no reason to act elitist either. https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Post/1371758/206407812/0/0 For a look at some of the other discussions I have made- Click the link to go to the Table of Discussion Topics

 • Overall, I think it's a good idea to leave last gen. People who complain about having to fork out $30 for more content are the same people that think the government should be paying all of their bills while they do nothing but sit on a couch and eat cheetos. It's not any ones fault if some people can't afford a new console and game after their current console is 10 years old. IF you're so mad about not being able to afford things because of "how shitty things are" in your life at the moment, then maybe you should get the fu*k off that couch, stop playing destiny for 750+ hours and actually do something productive so that you can move up the ladder in the work world so you can afford things you want without drowning yourself in a puddle of self sorrow while lashing out at Bungie and other people that can afford these things. I understand that Destiny started on the last gen and new gen at the same time and that people might expect it to continue until Destiny 2 but you can't keep adding content to a game on a system that has very little RAM to be able to process all of this new content at a continuous basis. It's not about the HDD space, it's more about the RAM and GPU being able to handle multiple things at one time in a smooth way.. I never understood why people would complain or disagree with the pricing of these DLCs....it's more content to add to a game you have many hundreds of hours playing and are probably going to add hundreds of more hours playing with the new content. It's a simple thing to grasp. IF you're a year one player, bought the game, 1st two DLCs and TTK, you spent around $140 to get all of this content. Most of these player have well over 500 hours on the game. If that's isn't your moneys worth than I guess theres no satisfying you.
