"Ugh, some people are fücking idiots..."
He hears the sound of a gun being chambered.
"Why do I have to do this again?"
English
-
"Handy," I said with a chuckle, in a moment seeing the hows and whys of each movement. Rotating the chainsword in my hand in a lazy circle before settling into the beginning stance, I continued. "All that's missing now is a decent sound track. I'm thinking... Doom 4."
-
Time starts to slowly move again. Might be a good time to make your move.
-
"Was worth a shot," I whispered. I rolled my shoulders. "Let's do this." Then, I moved.
-
You feel incredibly light in your step. Almost like you could fly. Better make the first strike. The Anomaly stands, caught off guard.
-
Following the guides, I struck swiftly. Not a moment wasted, not a movement pointless, each and every cut and stab flowing smoothly into the next. It was exhilarating for all that it felt as natural as breathing. Soon enough, the first group of targets were destroyed, cut down. I took a moment to savor the moment, the knowledge and skill being given to me in every instant of movement.
-
The Anomalies dis saps into nothingness. Your chainsword gets replaced with a simple knife. A soldier of sorts stands, his back turned behind you. A ghost of you, with your ghost knife, sneaks behind the soldier for an assassination. Ghost Adam takes the soldier by the neck and arm, pushing the soldier to the ground behind him. As Ghost Adam holds the soldier down by the neck, pulling out his knife, Adam says: "Get out of the way." Ghost Adam then inserts the knife into the soldier's throat, then continues on his merry way. You see another example loading up.
-
I cocked an eyebrow at the display, looking over the knife in my hand, before looking back at the soldier. Crouching down, I slowly made my way behind the simulation. Once there, I quickly put my hand over his mouth and sliced the knife across his throat. As he died, I slowly lowered him to the ground, making sure to muffle the gurgling gasps as he died. Once his eyes glazed over, I closed his eyes and stood up. "If you're going to go for a quiet kill, then go for a quiet kill. Anything else is pointless showmanship."
-
A voice echoes through the landscape, kinda like a intercom. "Listen... I don't know if you are going to get any sort of powers or something, but I can at least prepare you for when the time comes. For now, you're going to have to use a bit of this." A strange energy sparks in your hands. It looked white, transparent and weird.
-
Looking over my hands, I focused, seeing if I could actually sense the energy that surrounded them.
-
You definitely feel it. You feel like you could carve out any power with this. You see three enemies suddenly appear in front of you, drawing their weapons. You also sense that there's also one behind you.
-
Crouching down, I feed the power into my legs, feeling it strengthen them. Then, in one great burst, I leapt, launching myself high in the air. Once there, I shaped the energy into wings to keep me aloft, sprouting them from my back. Having given myself a better view of the situation as well as some breathing room, I called upon the energy yet again, this time looking for something a little more destructive. Holding out my palm, I focused, shaping and guiding the energy, before releasing it. A great bolt of lightning struck one of the targets, before leaping to another, and another. In a moment, all of them fell, smoking from several hundred thousand volts.
-
The targets de-materialise, leaving nothing behind. You hear a faint buzzing in the distance.
-
Still in the air, I turn in the direction of the noise, sharpening my senses with my temporary powers.
-
The fighter jet starts firing several heat-seeking missiles towards you, which are already homing onto you. It also starts firing it's chaingun towards your position.
-
"Fückin-" I manage to get out, hastily putting a shield between me and the rapidly approaching explosives just before they reached me. They hit the barrier and detonated, shattering it and throwing me back a fair distance before I got my bearings. As soon as I did, I remembered the rotator cannon, and barely dodged out of the way of both the bullets and their sender. Turning to face it as I took a breath and it began to swing around for another run, I thought quickly. "Big, fast, flying-" I got out, before an idea came to mind. The energy didn't seem to be running out anytime soon - though I probably wouldn't have so much later - so I quickly gathered as much as I could, shaping it into what I needed. Once it was ready, I released it, a great thunderstorm blooming outwards from me. I couldn't see the plane anymore, so I dived down, expecting that if the plane did survive the gale-force winds and constant crackling of lightning, it would try to get a over the storm.
-
Sure enough, you see the jet fighter tumbling down towards the ground, flames spouting from it's wing. You expect it to crash, but it becomes stuck in place, just glitching back and forth. Then things get weird. The jet fighter breaks into tiny little pieces, then those pieces start to go underneath you. They start to mould into something else, into pieces of landscape and rock. The process completes, revealing weird, broken pieces of a park. You can't feel your lightness of flight anymore. You start falling. Your powers start to fade.
-
"Shitshitshitshitshit-" I changed as I approached the ground. Readying the quickly-vanishing dregs of my power, I called a gust of wind to slow my decent to something survivable, turning some of my downward momentum to forward momentum. I hit the ground in a tumble, rolling to a stop, before laying on the ground. "Yep, still hurts," I groaned from my face-down position, before getting back up and looking around. "Some warning next time might be nice."
-
"Ah, damn. Hold up, someone's trying to take control of me." You see buildings slowly piece together in front of you. They seem to be broken high-rise buildings, probably because they're built so high. A statue with it's head knocked off materialises in the middle of the floating park. Then barely intact trees, then benches, then a helicopter that was crashing into the statue. "Oh... I remember this. But why are they trying to take form of my memories?" Xavier seemed to appear outta nowhere behind you.
-
"So, how do we deal with this?" I said as I turned to him.
-
"Well, re-live my memories. Dunno why they want us to do this, but eh." Something catches your eye. A group of people are seen on a portion that is outside the park. They're stuck in awkward positions, frozen in time.
-
"I'd say that looks like a decent place to start," I said, pointing over to the group.
-
"Right. I was exploring the crashlands, looking for survivors to bring back. Then I remembered having a battle here. Of course, those people helped me here. They had magic also, which didn't exist in this dimension that this memory is in." Xavier started pulling them out from the brink of time. You notice that indeed, some people looked like they belong to a fantasy world.
-
I simply sat back, watching. It wasn't like I could do anything, and given where our physical bodies were, very little would surprise me at this point. It was mildly frustrating that our training was being interiors do, but again, nothing to be done.
-
Several men come out of the buildings. They were wearing clothes that were like the ghostly anomalies. ???: "Freeze, bitch!" Xavier: "Oh great, them." They draw out their pistols, then they started firing at Adam and the rest. One of the bullets grazed Adam's shoulder, which actually hurt. Everyone shifted into cover, preparing with whatever they have. Xavier: "You're going to need this." He tosses you a M4, a fresh mag loaded in. He also materialises a 1911 for himself. Your powers are reduced to only a point where you could throw pure energy and stuff like that.
-
"One, OW. Two, gimme a sec," I said, focusing on the energy. Not nearly as much as before, or as easy to control, but it was something, and I could make it work. Getting what I wanted, I turned to Xavier. "Swap with me, and get ready to stack up. I'm going to generate a shield in front of us as we move up."
