I feel something akin to pity for someone who gets anything "meaningful" from video games in terms of characterization or plot development. For me, games are either fun to play or not. As an art form they are pretty lame in terms of providing any depth or pathos. Sure, the Last of Us had an emotional ending, but to my mind it wasn't that great. If I want intellectual stimulation and emotional involvement, I'll read a fvckin book. Maybe watch a movie . But play some dopey RPG or a game with uncanny valley characters faggin up cutscenes? Far down the list. Even the best among them a la Bioshock isn't that special compared to the worst Jack Ketchum novel.
