I disagree, they have no idea where they are going, no proof they can even get us there since the farthest any known colony ship has gone is the reef, no proof that any star system hase planets that can support human life, and Oryx's arrival in the sol system (ours) is evidence that, if not the darkness, then species like the hive will hunt us down to extinction, the book of sorrows is evidence of this In fact most of the cards state as much, the fallen are on the verge of extinction, the cabal may be retreating away from something worse then Oryx, the only known race that is thriving is the hive, all the others we are aware of thus far have been wiped out by the hive, we only know of them thanks to the books of sorrow So in summary DO: are preparing to leave the system (fools) NM: wants a single all powerful ruler (n@zis) FWC: are preparing for the next inevitable war (sounds reasonable)

You need to re-read the Books of Sorrow then. You say that if the Hive don't hunt us, the Darkness will. The Hive are one of the "Darkest," enemies out there. Also, the Vex are a thriving civilization, who can actually exploit their time traveling abilities, but haven't yet. The Cabal obviously aren't just as powerful as we have seen them on Mars or the Dreadnaught. They have an emperor. Dead Orbit actually knows this, and shared the information with the Tower. Also, you say that we don't know if we'll find life-sustainable planets. There is a loophole in this. We have garnments that can synthesize a suitable atmosphere, as seen on every single planet we've been on with no air/safe atmosphere. Also, if Dead Orbit finally got their way and sent out colony ships to different planets, and found a planet with only element (minerals, fuel, water, etc.) resources, we could send Frames or Exos to obtain the resources. Supporting this argument even more, all organic alien enemies we face such as Fallen, Cabal, and Hive, prove that there are life-sustaining planets out in the galaxy. There are so many stars/solar systems in our galaxy that for every grain of sand on earth there are 10,000 stars. There is bound to be at least a few planets that can sustain life. PS: The enemies we face besides the Vex and maybe the hive have to come either from the Milky Way, the Andromeda, or one of the many dwarf galaxies that are in a cluster of celestial bodies called the Local Group. This is because the Universe is expanding, and it is expanding at an exponential rate, meaning it gets faster and faster as time goes on. When it expands, the bodies in the existing Universe have to fill in the space, and spread apart. The Local Group is held together, and not torn apart because they are close enough to affect each other with gravity. But, the other galaxies outside of the Local Group are moving away faster and faster, meaning that unless we find a way to travel faster than light, or we find out how to teleport, we can never escape the Local Group. Doesn't that make you feel lonely? Anyway, the Vex and Hive may come from different galaxies because both of them can teleport in some way.

  •
I disagree, they have no idea where they are going,
I don't disagree with you there. Your comments are probably accurate. However, at the same time I understand that you disagree, but we really have no idea what Dead Orbit is up to. All of this is also just pure speculation and taken from bits of pieces of information that are either read, or heard in-game. It's common knowledge that we all know what each Faction wants and/or is doing. But realistically, we're all here to pick and pull information from each other to better understand what little we actually know about the Factions. There's plenty of secrecy between the Factions. A lot that we don't know and probably won't ever know. And I've only given a small effort to read and understand the Book of Sorrows - the Hive are probably my least favorite race lore-wise, so I haven't bothered to fully read anything. I do have to disagree with only one more thing, that not every alien race we encounter in the future may be hostile. Thanks for the response, man!

  • No not every alien race may not be hostile, books of sorrows also points this out And I do agree with you since I also don't fully agree with FWC, I have no love for this machine they seem to be obsessed with, each life wasted on that thing is one less gun in the fight when the real fighting begins, but at least FWC will fight, as well as NM DO plan seems too big of a risk since they have too little information, seems more like suicide to me, we have better chances standing our ground, recent events in ttk are evidence for this, we just need more Intel in what exactly "the darkness" is and what did "it" use against us to bring us to the brink And one last point I feel I have to make, DO plan is unoriginal, the colony ships wrecked out in the reef had the same idea, they never made it out, something kept them in the solar system, is that something still there on the edges of our system? Ignoring any long range jump ships in favor of larger colony ships? Too many risks, not enough supporting data
