People said the same thing about MIDA. It's the same as Y1. It's not OP. But it still got the nerf.
Fact is, when a rebalance occurs, the balance shifts. So while Striker Titans might be the same as in Y1, the majority of the other classes aren't and the class that didn't change will have a spotlight on it.
In this case, with a nerf to throwing knives and trip mines, the balance naturally shifts in favor to shoulder charge and lightning grenades. The spotlight is shone.
And at this point, it's obvious that Bungie loves to nerf things that are popular. So I can easily see them showing a graph of the Striker subclass and talking about how lots of players have the shoulder charge and lightning grenade nodes selected and how this justifies a nerf. On the plus side, they'll probably buff other grenades and melees, but it still doesn't change the fact that they nerf things based on how popular they are.
At the end of the day though, blame Bungie, not the players. Players might complain, but Bungie has the last word. And we all know what Bungie does when the last word is involved. That's right, I'm ending this post with a pun.

I was just telling the truth. If you have some patience and time, you should give it a read again.

I was going to elaborate on the striker class, but there's no time to explain
