Wut?
"I dunno, to the right?!"
They start to get less manageable.

"Shitshitshitshitshit-" I changed as I approached the ground. Readying the quickly-vanishing dregs of my power, I called a gust of wind to slow my decent to something survivable, turning some of my downward momentum to forward momentum. I hit the ground in a tumble, rolling to a stop, before laying on the ground. "Yep, still hurts," I groaned from my face-down position, before getting back up and looking around. "Some warning next time might be nice."
-
"Ah, damn. Hold up, someone's trying to take control of me." You see buildings slowly piece together in front of you. They seem to be broken high-rise buildings, probably because they're built so high. A statue with it's head knocked off materialises in the middle of the floating park. Then barely intact trees, then benches, then a helicopter that was crashing into the statue. "Oh... I remember this. But why are they trying to take form of my memories?" Xavier seemed to appear outta nowhere behind you.
-
"So, how do we deal with this?" I said as I turned to him.
-
"Well, re-live my memories. Dunno why they want us to do this, but eh." Something catches your eye. A group of people are seen on a portion that is outside the park. They're stuck in awkward positions, frozen in time.
-
"I'd say that looks like a decent place to start," I said, pointing over to the group.
-
"Right. I was exploring the crashlands, looking for survivors to bring back. Then I remembered having a battle here. Of course, those people helped me here. They had magic also, which didn't exist in this dimension that this memory is in." Xavier started pulling them out from the brink of time. You notice that indeed, some people looked like they belong to a fantasy world.
-
I simply sat back, watching. It wasn't like I could do anything, and given where our physical bodies were, very little would surprise me at this point. It was mildly frustrating that our training was being interiors do, but again, nothing to be done.
-
Several men come out of the buildings. They were wearing clothes that were like the ghostly anomalies. ???: "Freeze, bitch!" Xavier: "Oh great, them." They draw out their pistols, then they started firing at Adam and the rest. One of the bullets grazed Adam's shoulder, which actually hurt. Everyone shifted into cover, preparing with whatever they have. Xavier: "You're going to need this." He tosses you a M4, a fresh mag loaded in. He also materialises a 1911 for himself. Your powers are reduced to only a point where you could throw pure energy and stuff like that.
-
"One, OW. Two, gimme a sec," I said, focusing on the energy. Not nearly as much as before, or as easy to control, but it was something, and I could make it work. Getting what I wanted, I turned to Xavier. "Swap with me, and get ready to stack up. I'm going to generate a shield in front of us as we move up."
-
Xavier: "You got it." Xavier swapped, then started preparing his powers.
-
"We'll move around to flank them," I said, before taking a deep breath. In an instant, a translucent tower shield of pure energy formed on my forearm, about four feet high and three feet across. "Here goes everything," I mumbled, before moving out from behind cover, shielding the both of us as we moved.
-
???: "They've got a shielder! Focus fire on them!" The attackers start concentrating fire on your shields, hoping to break it down. Meanwhile, Xavier tosses Psionic balls of energy, taking down each man.
-
I grunted under the heavy strain of the fire, but we managed to get to the next bit of cover unharmed. "Alright, that trick isn't going to work twice," I said, flinching as bits of masonry exploded from the suppressive fire. We had made it to the end of one of the many streets connecting to the plaza, and we're taking cover behind the corner of a building. "No doubt they'll send some around to flank us, so we need to do something now. Any ideas?"
-
"Well, I-" His speech is interrupted when the part of the building collapses, almost caving in. A couple of explosions were heard when the building collapsed, meaning that the attackers had a explosive weapon of sorts. "...I was planning to control one of their men, so that I could get the jump on them. I need you to cover my back while I try to possess one of them."
-
"I'll see what I can do. No guarantees, though." With that, I called up the the energy again. This time, I shaped it into something a bit bigger calling a dome shield into being around us. "Alright. Not sure how long this will hold under fire, and I can't do much else while maintaining it. Whatever you're gonna do, do it quick."
-
Xavier quickly pulled out his Psi Amp. Purple and Black flowed into his arms, then it flowed into his glasses. He releases the energy, controlling one of the attackers. Xavier puts back his Amp, then starts commanding it. ???: "Get... Outta... My... Head..." The assailant gets overtaken by darkness, attempting to fight back. It easily overtakes him though, and he starts getting into a cover away from the others, then starts firing at his comrades.
-
Huh. XCOM. What's next, Lord of the Rings? Star Trek? Then the guys who had flanked us started shooting the shield. Which, newsflash to anyone who's never maintained a psionic shield under fire, hurts like a bitch. To distract myself from the pain, I started reciting an old poem I was find of. Seemed appropriate, give the situation. "Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole..."
-
Xavier somehow managed to provide covering fire, shooting the flankers and mind controlling someone. The connection is cut short when the one being controlled was killed. "Ah, crap."
-
"You wouldn't happen to have any other tricks up your sleeve? Like, I dunno, telekinesis? Lighting spells? Freaking, maybe a null lance or some soul fire, if you wanna stick with the shtick?" I ground out as the pounding recommenced.
-
"Ah, screw this." Xavier stood up and started to generate a transparent energy. It looked like glass, distorting what you looked through it. He then pounded the ground, altering the ground and sending the flankers into the air. They then were frozen in place, in awkward positions in the middle of falling. Xavier then shot several bullets, their trajectory stopped by the energy freezing them in place. He snapped his fingers, resuming the bullets to their lethal course and literally dropping them.
-
"Well, that's a relief," I said, finally dropping the shield. Of course, I summoned the wall shield from earlier, just in case there were any more.
-
"Oh, right. I almost forgot that the people we pulled out of being stuck in time are still out there. And..." You hear that the battle is tied. "... They're actually holding out. Huh."
-
Pulling out the pistol, I looked back at the flankers. "What do you say to giving the bastards a taste of their own medicine?"
-
"Yeah. You got any plans?"
-
I paused, looking over at Xavier incredulously. "I literally just said 'taste of their own medicine' while looking down the way those guys flanked us from. What do you think?"
