Alexis sits at her small post on the edge of the camp, standing guard for any hostile activity. It has been two years since she's joined their ranks and she was getting better at working like them without going through the gene seed process.
"Nothing so far.... That's good...."
Alexis writes down everything she's seen since she started her shift five hours ago.

Two marines walk up to her position. "That will be all, Battle-Sister. You may return to your quarters. We will take watch."
-
"Alright, he's what I've seen so far... Nothing suspicious." Alexis gets up and hands them the slip of paper, heading back to her tent. She's always preferred sleeping in one, even when nicer rooms available. Most likely a result of her years with the Sisters.

The base-wide vox opened. "Battle-Sister Alexis is requested in the Chapter Master's office. Repeat, Battle-Sister Alexis to the Chapter Master."

It was quite the camp, with every structure that could be expected from a Space Marine stronghold. Seeing as they couldn't exactly have a battle barge raining support down on them, they had to hold a fortified position. Albeit unlike their usual strategy, it was a strategy they could see through. Their Chapter Master, Valerius Caluroso, had his own monastery constructed, at the center of the base.
-
Alexis walks into it while softly praying to the Emperor, seeing as how she was in a monastery
-
Well, it was called a monastery, but wasn't really one. It was more like the Master's personal home. The Imperial Panthers themselves aren't a religious chapter. They don't see the emperor as a god. Instead, they view him as an ideal of hope. Of a future worth fighting for. They fully realize that what seats the golden throne of Terra is a dying saviour, that fell protecting humanity from his own spawn. And they worshipped not the Emperor, but humanity as a whole. They, most of all, abhor the Ordo Hereticus of the Inquisition, for their behaviour, their purpose, their entire existence ticks them off. And it's why they had accepted Alexis within their ranks. The young girl had been a devoted sister her entire life, pledging her body and soul to the Emperor's service. However, when she was suspected of heresy by her fellow sisters, she had it all taken from her. Her identity, her devotion, it had all been lost. Using her hidden psyker powers, she managed to flee the enraged sisters, trapped on a rainy jungle planet. For a whole day she ran... Exhausted, breathless and starving, she fell right into the hands of Valerius Caluroso. The Imperial Panthers were on a hunting run on the planet, when they found her. Before passing out, the last thing she saw was the bare moon shining a light down on her and Caluroso, whose shining yellow eyes were gently looking down at the poor woman, shielding her from the rain. For a time, his brothers refused to take her in. After all, she was a sister of battle, one of the blind followers of the god Emperor. But, Caluroso appeased the minds of his brothers. Alexis had nowhere else to go... they couldn't just abandon her. No. She was human, like them. So, they took her under their wing. While it had been two years since her rescue, letting go of her old habits proved difficult. But, during these two years spent under the direct, personal tutelage of the Panther, she had learned much from her brothers' lifestyle. Caluroso stood, at fourteen feet tall, before a window. His shining armour gleamed from the light, it was ornate and crafted masterfully, depicting the long history of the chapter. He had his helmet on his head, he was unaware of her presence.
-
Alexis stops herself once she realizes what she was doing. "Damn it... I need to stop that...."
-
"Don't blame yourself, Lexie. Old habits die hard." He was the only one in her life that could call her Lexie, and that was just fine with her. After all, the two of them were close, as teacher-student relationships go. He turned to face her.
-
Alexis smiles under her helmet and respectfully bows. "Thank you, might I ask why I was summoned?"
-
"Simple. I have news about the operation." Ah, yes. The famous operation. About a year after her induction into the ranks of the panthers, Alexis had shown interest in a certain field. She wanted to be closer to her chapter master in most thing, simply put, she wanted to undergo Gene-Seed treatment. However, once Caluroso informed her of the implications of the treatment, she felt her hopes crushed a bit. However, her chapter master bolstered her hopes. He would personally attempt to ensure that her wishes be granted. He and the apothecaries would do all within their power to attempt and produce a version of the Gene-Seed that would not affect her femininity. Because... women are hot. And cute. And really really cool. Caluroso took off his helmet, uncovering his panther-like features. His feline visage, his black fur, as black as the night sky, his golden gleaming eyes and his ears. He had a smile on his face. "The apothecaries have made good progress. We have uncovered an ancient, pre-heresy formula for the operation. The Librarian is currently exploring the formula to attempt to make sense of it. Your dream may well be within our grasp." His whiskers perked up with his smile.
-
Alexis fumbles with her helmet, barely able to contain her joy. Finally! She'll be able to keep up with the rest of the Chapter and not drag them down during a mission. She finally managed to take her helmet off, her hair spilling down her face. "Really?! You mean it?!"
-
He smiles at her childlike joy. That was an attribute of hers that he always loved, among others. "I do, Lexie."
-
Alexis runs over and hugs him. "Thank you so much! Now I can finally help my battle brothers out!"
-
He chuckles, patting her back. "Easy now... do understand that you may not be just like your brothers. There may be some differences between you and them. However, I remain faithful that we will see this project through together." He smiles down at her, his deep, sweet and exotic voice calming her ears, the exotic hispanic accent lacing his every word. "I must ask you again, however, are you sure you do not wish to have a room in the barracks? There is plenty of place for you... you don't have to hold out on us, Lexie..."

Edited by Inquisitor Vaax: 6/25/2016 12:19:56 AM"It's fine, I prefer sleeping in my tent anyway. It's quiet and I'm by myself, so I can clear my head easier." Her red and black hair covered half her face, a small gleam of joy in her green eyes. Her normally pout lips curled into a huge smile.
-
"If you wish to do so..." He smiles at her, his black fur gleaming from the light. "But do know that you make me very proud, Lexie. And I don't just say that as your teacher. As your chapter master... and as your friend."
-
"Thank you, I swear to keep that feeling going...." Alexis softly squeezes him before letting go.
-
"That would be good." He smiles. "So, what do you think of this ship? Not exactly where we would feel at home, but we go wherever we are needed."
-
"It's interesting, but I can't help but feel on guard at all times.... Too much chaotic energy in one place..."
-
"Indeed, the ruinous powers are definitely at work here... but nonetheless, we will do our duty to any human on board." He nods.
-
Alexis nods and stretches. "Was there anything else you needed?"
-
"No, that was all. I won't take up any more of your time."
-
Alexis respectfully bows and walks away, heading back to her tent.
well... shit... what now?
