No problem on the details. Yeah, the Dreamcast actually had 'online servers' set up before any of this xbox live or playstation plus. But the problem was that internet connections were really crappy back then and couldn't really support the online community like it does now (back then there was really no 'always online' for homes, and being online used up your phone line unless you paid more for an extra line). Now people are like... 'What's a land line? A phone at home? What are you talking about?' ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Also the cost of investing in hardware and monthly fees for internet were costly back then since they were fairly new and not something the average household fit into their budget. So Dreamcast offered features that only a few could really take advantage of (at the time). That was one of its big selling points and features which sadly led to a failure in their amazing console. So badly in fact that Sega closed its doors on making hardware (consoles) and shifted solely to making software (games for other consoles). It was a big deal back then because Sega used to be Nintendo's major competitor; not Sony or Microsoft. [spoiler]Yeah, I know... I'm old :)[/spoiler]
