"Sir, are you sure this will work out?..." The assistant clutched a bag against him as the ship rattled from the sudden lurch of entering a jet stream.
"You worry too much, old boy." The Suros representative grinned as he held onto the railing above for dear life. "I have faith in my product."
"Well your face certainly sells that point..." The assistant cleared his throat and checked his messages on the holographic pad once more.
"What one does for the love of the sport." The man placed his hand on the large black burn mark on his right cheek that disfigured his once perfect face. The skin flaked slightly from his touch, barely healing after nearly two months from the first prototype, but that was a while ago and the pride he had now far outweighed the misery. The ship jolted once more as it stopped moving and the bay doors opened slowly to reveal the outside world.
The man inhaled heavily and sighed happily. "Well let's get this show on the road. Get the ammunition." He motioned towards the few cases of spare rockets as he picked up the largest case and walked out of the ship. The bright sun of the Cosmodrome stung his eyes a little as he glanced about. The wall spanned most of the horizon to his left as the midday sun beat down on the dry and cracked dirt of Old Russia.
Four Guardians were standing a few yards away and were speaking to one another. The man smiled and began walking towards them. He made sure not to swing the abnormally heavy case too much as to not put him off balance. As he drew close with his assistant in tow, many of the Guardians took notice to him and straightened up, watching him approach. Most had their helmets off, showing a wide variety of races from Human to Awoken and even an Exo, expect for one who was a little ways from the crowd and leaning against a ruined piece of old tech.
The man waved and spoke with his flamboyant sales voice. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Glad you all could make it."
"We are sadly one short." A female Titan with dark brown skin and an annoyed tone to her voice spoke up. "He got whisked off to some meeting with the Vanguard." Her armor exaggerated her form as she shifted her weight to her opposite leg.
The Exo Hunter shrugged and wiped some dirt off of his fading white paint job. "Sucks to be Lex." He giggled happily and his blue eyes shone a bit. "We get all the fun."
"Oh be quiet Auto." An Awoken Warlock spoke with annoyance.
"No trouble at all. I was only able to bring one model." The man said as he set the case down with a thud infront of the group. "The others are waiting to be produced as we speak."
"So do they explode? I don't think Trixx can stand her face being disfigured like that." Auto the Hunter laughed as the female Titan reared back.
"I'm gonna beat the s*** out of you bot." Trixx glared angrily.
Auto laughed again. "That should be easy. I don't have any crap in me, unlike you who is FULL of it!"
"Why you!" Trixx started to rush forward but the Awoken Warlock, named Lyris, stepped in the way.
"Easy Trixx."
Auto giggled again as Trixx pushed Lyris away and looked at the Suros rep. "Well whatcha got for us then?"
"I'm so glad you asked." The man smiled as he turned the case with his polished shoe. "To all who came, we thank you for being our more trusted advisors, regarding the Suros product line. This dedication has given you the early access to the company's latest tool of destruction and a personal passion project for over three months."
Auto raised his hand like a child. "Does this mean we get a free sticker for participating?"
"I'm gonna kill him..." Trixx muttered under her breath as Lyris placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm... sure it can be arranged..." The man said with a sigh. "But with all regard..." He pushed the case with his foot to where it was flat on the ground. He bent down, unclasped the locks and opened the case. He grinned as the white rocket sparkled slightly in the harsh sun.
It had the standard chassis of the Suros rocket launchers but was considerably bulkier and larger. The familiar, but blue tinted, phoenix design was carefully painted along the shoulder mount and main body and small pipes were integrated into the barrel as jets. The man smiled as he swept his hand over the launcher. "May I present, the Suros JLB-51 or 'Project Thunderbird' as I like to call it."
Trixx and Lyris were the first to step forward and examine the rocket.
"What are the specs?" Lyris pulled up a screen and studied it intensely.
The man tapped the case with his foot and a similar screen appeared near the barrel of the rocket. "This is based off of the JLB-47 but given a massive boost to its Velocity, from 1267 to a record 1364 mph, and an increase to its Blast Radius, from 9 feet in diameter to nearly 17 feet."
"Any particular reason why it's bulky?" Auto asked as he poked the side of it slightly.
"Well this is experimental tech, there will be means as to condense the size but as of now it is in its most optimal size."
Lyris glanced at the screens for several more seconds, scrolling through a list before putting it away. "Mind if I?"
"By all means, it's a bit heavier than our usual models so be cautious."
Lyris nodded and picked the rocket out of its casing slinging it on his shoulder. "Wow this is... noticeably heavier..."
"What? Can't take the weight?" Trixx said with a grin.
Lyris raised his eyebrow and handed the rocket to her. "Alright you hold it."
She slung it on her shoulder. "Eh it's not too bad." She leaned the rocket down slightly and opened the chamber. "It's pretty balanced though."
"That it is. We haven't done extensive testing on its extreme mobility but one can fire straight while strafing atleast." The man nodded, motioning towards his assistant. "Would you like to test it?"
"That's why we came here." Trixx said with a grin.
The man nodded as his assistant handed him a cartridge. "Two rockets in the mag, three with Tripod." He slapped it into Trixx's free hand. "Standard 4 rocket reserve, little sluggish reload and stability is rather low but nothing I couldn't handle."
"Then this aught to be a piece of cake." Trixx loaded the rocket and pointed down range. "Got anything to shoot at?"
"Actually we do." The man glanced back at his assistant. "Are we ready?"
The assistant nodded and pulled out a small remote device. "As always."
The man nodded. "Well go ahead."
The assistant nodded and pushed the button, setting off a loud explosion off in the distance.
