Just a question. Why shouldn't you steal?
Apparently, only about 10% of the population will come up with some sort of abstract moral reasoning to explain why we shouldn't steal. The rest will say something akin to, "Because we get in trouble," or, "Because it's against the law."
Why shouldn't you steal?
Edit: I'm an ardent supporter of property rights. I'm not implying that that theft is moral.

People don't steal because society tells them so. Everybody has been taught at a young age either by your family or authority figures that their are some things one shouldn't do , for example like stealing. Their are also consequences put in place by society to deter people from breaking rules. For example: fines, jail, death. People are social beings, we only survive by working together. Stealing, only benefits one person and it can disadvantage others. It only makes sense then that society would put in place rules that keep it together. If everybody stole and murdered then that would ultimately destroy society.
