"With? Whatever that is out there has both weapons and armor. You are a living relative of the emperor, I'm just a tribune, in the grand scheme of things a lot more men like me will die, but you need to live."

I don't know shit about how that battle went, but I can assume it wasn't against eight feet tall daemon-powered enhanced hulking supersoldiers in power armour. Compared to their sheer bulk and strength, the shields buckled. While the men fought with bravery, in a contest of pure strength they wouldn't last very long. Luckily, they wouldn't need to. With the mysterious assault from the rear, the Chaos troops had begun dwindling to a point where retreat was necessary. The sorcerer at the center of the formation opened a warp portal, allowing several of them to escape, leaving a few last heretics to be slaughtered.

The battle in question, pitted 23:1 the Romans were out numbered, they lost but 400 men. The legionnaires here would hold, their arms and armor significantly updated, built to withstand such assaults, The senate of Roma Nova was expected to take care of their legions. Yet they still took casualties, the left wing started to buckle as they took losses, tradition placed the strongest men on the right, the least experienced on the left.
-
Soon enough, the sandwiched chaos forces had been wiped out. As the last Berzerker fell, the legionaires saw who was the mysterious forces that had assisted them. They were Tempestus Scions, or Imperial Stormtroopers, that were clad in black armour with a grim painting over the helmet. These were the Shock Troopers of the Baltic Manticores, dubbed Death Corps. These special soldiers, among the manticores, were the utmost experts at taking down the threat of chaos, having all their gear tuned to counter chaotic equipment. Most of these were, like the ancient Sisters of Silence, all donned with the pariah gene. These Elite men and women were a force not to be denied, especially against chaos. They had become indispensable with the Bloodwrath crysis. They approached the Legionaires, yet Ariel did not seem affected by the effects of the Pariah gene. "You guys alright? Seem we arrived just in time."

The legionnaires nodded, as they sheathed their weapons, and walked the battlefield to check for wounded and the dead. The tribune spoke with the centurion about something.
-
"Well! The day is saved, it seems!" Ariel had a bright smile, she still stood near the Tribune. "And it was fun."
-
The tribune nodded. "They won't try something like that again. I'll see about having more defenses set up here. I suppose you want to enter general quarters to see it. I can arrange an escort if you wish."
-
"Where will you be going?"
-
"I was going to return to the legion's encampment and report to the legate. He will want to know that you have arrived, and that the attack was repulsed."
-
"And where is that?"
-
"It's hard to miss, west side of the general quarters, it's the place with all the tents surrounded by a makeshift wall."
-
"Alright, thanks! Maybe I'll come and say hello sometime." She smiles.
-
He smirked. "I'd appreciate that. I will see you then."
