I was playing Sunday night and I swear I heard the Wilhelm scream in the game. For those of you not in the know check the link out. It's been used in so many movies I wouldn't be surprised if it's made its way into video games.
That being said, have you guys heard it in The Witcher 3? How about any other games?
-
It's definitely in borderlands 2.
-
I made that sound when I realized I had finished all the Witcher 3 including DLC.

Guards will sing a part of a beastie boy song.... Am I showing my age.....

It does it when you take fatal fall damage if I recall correctly. I absolutely abhor the Wilhelm scream and a few other overused sound effects. It completely destroys any suspension of disbelief I had. Audio engineers often put it in as a sort of running gag, but it's run far too long and has completely worn out its welcome with me. That said, some manipulated variations of the scream are fine and actually makes it seem like the audio guys were being creative. As it stands now, it feels like a fart gag inserted into serious situations.

There's a few in Red Dead Redemption

My brother walked off a cliff and heard that scream

Maybe, can't say I recall. But I did overhear some soldiers referencing Pulp Fiction by talking about the gimp.

Red Dead, during a Seth mission that takes you to Tumbleweed you have to fight up to an abandoned house. As you approach, someone with a rifle peeks out from a window on the second floor, I heard a Wilhelmina scream when I shot him.

I've heard it slipped in there once or twice. I forget where in the game though
