Trump supporters have never cared about such things though. He has said he could walk down fifth avenue and shoot somebody and not lose a supporter and he's right. People don't like Trump for saying facts; people like Trump for saying the cruel things he does about subjects they're emotional about. "Mexicans are taking our jobs?! Those guys are rapists and drug dealers! Build the wall! Build it tall! Deport them all!" "Muslims are attacking this country? Ban all of them from coming in!" Keep in mind all recent terrorists have been born in America. "Many conservative Americans think Hillary should be in jail so HillaryForJail2016!" Trump has criticized Hillary for voting for the Iraq war calling it a sign of weakness, yet choose a running mate who also did and dismissed it as "being human" when asked about his record. Trump's supporters also initially said they loved that he pays his own way, then shrugged their shoulders when he started raising money. Trump supporters don't care about facts. What they love about him is that he's an unapologetic asshole who plays to their fears and prejudices. He is literally the definition of a demagogue. He confidently attacks first with "sick burns" and facts don't matter to him. He won't apologize and he's just "cool" so America loves him. He's a salesman who specializes at selling himself and conservative America is eating out of his hands.

Edited by Savage Coconut: 7/21/2016 7:45:04 PMI saw a poll saying that the reason majority of people are voting for trump is so Hillary doesn't win & the reason majority of people are voting for Hillary is so trump doesn't win. Truth is that if anyone honestly thinks either of these two are right to be president they're equally stupid. People need to realize that they are not the only choices we have. We have a chance to elect someone else that may not be perfect, but they're better than these 2. I bet most people don't even know any of these candidates policies because they don't do any research for themselves. Or that there are other candidates beside these two. People base their information on what the media & what others say & the media doesn't even show the other options we have. The fact that these are the only candidates that are mentioned is sad. Also threads & posts like these are useless. Instead of making threads telling people not to vote for Hillary or trump because of 'x' reason, why not make a thread on a candidate people should vote for. Since social media is how people get their info, we should be showing people the other choices they have. I think that would be more productive because it shows people another option rather than things they heard 1 million times. Repeating yourselves isn't going to change people's mind because clearly they're voting based on who will beat the candidate they don't like out of the only 2 choices that they think there are

Attention Trump supporters: Here is a new message from your future President. Enjoy!

You post these things as if Donald Trump supporters are reasonable people. They don't care about violating national or internation laws. They don't care about rights. They want America to be feared again. That's all. And they'll stop at no expense to get there.

Curiously last night, I woke up at an ungodly hour, and found Trump live on the BBC. Bemused, and thinking that his nonsense would soon send me drifting off back to slumber land, I decided to watch... Trumps speech was dazed abd confused, and full of contradictions. It was as if it had been written with one eye on Infowars. Long on personal attacks, bravado, wishful thinking, and at times, pure fantasy, and short on actual facts, and solid commitments. My interest was piqued when he said he would end the power of lobbying groups in Washington, I remembered Obama promising similar things back in the day. Further into his speech however, that interest turned into a full-on facepalm, when he more or less got into bed with the NRA. I guess when Trump said lobbyists, he did not mean ALL lobbyists. Then there was the economy. He noted that Obama had doubled the national debt, without admitting that half of that debt was a result of previous administrations. He made a point of highlighting the $18trn debt, but gave no answer on how he was going to tackle it himself. He also promised to fix everything wrong with Anerica, without providing anything more than the fact that he was going to do it fast. Then there was the confused stance on illegal immigrants. One second he was attacking them, next thing the camera cuts to someone holding a 'Latinos for Trump' placard. Then he highlighted the case if a three girls who had all been killed by illegal immigrants, one of which had a Mexican sounding name. I was not sure if he was denouncing illegal immigration, or making a stand against Latino on Latino crime. Far from dozing off, I was wide awake by the time he claimed that he was going to destroy ISIS.. again fast. What magic strategy does Trump have that will instantly fix the issues in the Middle East? It was was that kind of gung-ho mentality that got the world into the state that it is in right now. Trump also does not understand asymmetrical warfare. ISIS want this confrontation. It will bolster their ranks, and renew their cause. Fighting valiantly against the crusader nations, and all that. I am telling you this straight, if Trump puts troops on the ground to fight ISIS, Syria will become the morgue of the USMC.

My biggest worry about Trump is that he's normalized the strong man figure that wields tremendous government power over business, individuals, and foreign affairs with a nationalist and racist message. I do not believe Trump is going to beat Clinton. I say it matter of factly knowing the mountain Trump must climb that is the electoral college. Trump can win in Ohio and Florida and he's still lost the election. What I have always said about Trump is that he is a Barry Goldwater like figure. The question is who will play Reagan to Trump's Goldwater.

Stand:Build Wall User:Donald J. Trump. It comes with impenetrable defense, and since trump can attack his enemies verbally it is a very deadly duo.

Both Trump and Hillary are terrible. Id rather vote for Hillary between the two. Even then I'm still likely not voting for her.

The support for Trump is initially baffling. I found the following articles insightful: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/07/how-american-politics-went-insane/485570/ http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/07/11/george-saunders-goes-to-trump-rallies TL;DR people are not so much pro-Trump as anti-politics. They are frustrated, disillusioned and believe there must be simple, easy solutions to complex problems, and this is precisely what Trump appears to offer. He's the OxyContin of American politics.

People will always follow the path of least resistance. If I have prejudices and false positions I believe to be true, I'll just go where I don't have to change, not where the truth is.
