Right now throwing knives are too weak. Bungie needs to buff the base damage by 10% here are some reasons why.
- Skip grenades do more damage and you don't have to aim them
- Sticky grenades have insane aim assistance and are a one hit kill
- Scatter grenades do more damage and have a AOE
- Storm grenades do more damage and are an AOE grenade
And all of the examples have a faster cool down than a throwing knife. Also they all start with S I thought that was interesting.
Edit: it somehow slipped my mind that all the examples were grenades so here are some mêlée examples
- Storm caller mêlée ( forgot the name ) has the range were a throwing knife is most affective and you don't have to aim it because it just snaps to people
- Flame shield and energy drain both have good range and it gives you health back
- Smoke grenades have good damage and an AOE that damages you when you are out of it
- Blink strike can one hit you if they have on backstab
Throwing knives only use was for quick damage in a short time frame that is how it was meant to be used it wasn't OP because you had to aim and put thought into the knife because it had travel time and it dropped. The damage right now is not worth the effort because it is way more effective to just use your primary. Regarding the one shot knife to do that you had to set up a build for it and still aim it. I can get the Nerf though but I can't get why the nerfed the base damage. They could have only nerfed khepris sting and the burning knife. The 10% base damage Nerf was unneeded and ruined the knife and how it was meant to be used.

Throwing knives give you melee from a distance. They are one of a kind in the melee slot.
