Storm- If we can ionize enough arc energy in a small, compact field, we just might be able to create a rift in the Ascendent Plane!
Solis- WHAT?!
Storm- Solis. Give. Me. Your. Chest.
Solis shook his head.
Solis- WHAT?! But... But it's...... Twilight Garrison.....
Oryx spread his arms out wide as his chest glowed with a white, fiery light.
The Warlock screamed at the Titan.
Storm- It's one dash per cooldown anyways! GIVE IT TO ME ALREADY!
Solis- Okay, okay, FINE!
Solis lifted his beloved chest piece off his body and pulled it over his head.
Solis- Still better than Shadestep....
With a loud grunt, Solis threw Twilight Garrison through the air.
Back on the Deathsinger plate, Storm heaved her arms forward and cast her Stormtrance, shooting a ray of arc energy into the ground.
Blue lightning crackled in between her fingertips and the blue metal as she caught the exotic chest piece in her hands. The glowing red and blue rods on the back shot outward, blinking faster and faster until the whole chest piece began shaking with arc power.
Storm- Nightly, get ready!
Nightly nodded and leaped into the air, drawing back her bow in a flash of purple.
Nightly- I was born ready.
Storm- NOW!
Storm threw the electrolyzed armor up into the air.
In the blink of an eye, Nightly let go of the knock on her bow. The purple arrow of light flew forward and crashed into the makeshift bomb, propelling through the air and into Oryx's chest.
Just before it reached the center, though, the Hive God clapped his hands in a thundering blast of darkness.
The chest piece shook and sparked with energy as Oryx's squeezed harder and harder.
Nightly (landing on the ground)- What the hell happened?!
Storm called out in response.
Storm- He caught it! He caught the armor!
Over between the two plates, Bubbles and Blades watched as the flurry of blue and purple energy lit up the area.
Bubbles looked at the chest piece, which was now stuck at the front of Oryx's chest.
Blades cringed as he leaned forward, tightly gripping the wound at his side.
Blades- -blam!-.... Bubbles....
Bubbles smiled.
Bubbles- It's been fun.
Blades smiled back at the Defender.
Blades- Yeah.... It's been–
Tibbs- It's not over yet.
Bubbles' ghost whizzed past them, flying through the air straight at Oryx.
Bubbles and Blades called out after the ghost.
Blades- No, wait!
Bubbles- TIBBS!
Tibbs turned around, blinking at the Titan.
Tibbs- It's okay, Bubbles.
Blades and the other students watched as the two partners looked at each other, both understanding what was about to happen.
Tibbs- It really has been fun.
In the blink of an eye, the ghost turned around and crashed itself into the sparking chest piece, sending it through Oryx's hands and right into the Hive God's chest.
A storm of arc energy buzzed around the air as Oryx fell backwards, heaving his chest left and right. A loud roar thundered through the air as the raid boss screamed louder than ever before. White light burned bright at the center of Oryx's chest, growing larger and larger until nearly all of the arena was consumed by light. Within seconds, the light dissipated, until all that was left was Oryx's crystallized body.
The rocky structure, once lively demonic, floated away into space.
Storm- Did we just.... win?
Solis kissed the ground as Nightly and Storm hugged.
Solis- WE'RE ALIVE!
The three of them went quiet as the looked behind them. Between the Deathsinger plates, Blades and Bubbles stood still.
Bubbles trembled as his knees crashed to the ground.
Blades- Bubbles...
The Defender shook his head.
Bubbles- He's not.... He's not.... He can't be....right?
Blades put a hand on his shoulder as he looked up. Floating above was a charred shell. The small bulb of a Ghost rested at the center, no longer shining with light. The remains sank through the air. Not quick with gravity, but slow.
Bubbles- He's not....
Bubbles took the broken shell in his hand. He held his knees together.
The purple glow that once surrounded him slowly faded.
The other guardians approached him.
Storm- Bubbles.... Your light.
Solis knelt beside the Defender.
Solis- It's alright.
Bubbles' metal helmet clinked as he rested his head on Solis's shoulder. The sound that came from beneath his helmet was soft, not loud. But the grief in his whimpers was deafening to his friends. Solis wrapped his arm around Bubbles and held him tight. He could feel the warmth of the void shrinking around his friend.
The guardians all looked at each other.
Storm held her hand over her mouth as her eyes began to water.
Storm- Bubbles.... I'm....
The last vestige of violet light wisped away from the Defender.
Where there was once the intensity and clamor of the raid, there rested now only silence in the air.
