I remember when I started Destiny back when it came out and clash and control had a nice map rotation. Not a lot of maps back then, but there was a nice mix of small, medium, and a course big large maps. Now a days the only decently sized map is Shores of Time and a dreadnaught map, but those aren't like the big wide open ones that once existed. I know they exist and it be nice to have that kind of rotation again. Maps where you can have close quarters combat and then a nice large open map made for those times you like to just snipe people. I know the shotguns would hate this idea, but I like to bring variety back to the crucible as well as the fun. Who's with me and what big map do you miss playing on?
The issue isn't that shotgunners would hate it.
It's that every fanboy has a sniper rifle. The undeserved glamour and mystique of these weapons means every twelve year old secretly fancies themselves some kind of elite sniper. They jump at every opportunity to 'prove' this (generally by losing control games).
So big, open maps can't exist. Everyone will just spam snipers and wreck the pace of the game. Which is a shame because the movement, radar, vehicles and weapons all seem designed with large maps in mind.
If snipers were a heavy on the other hand...
