On some cases there are exceptions...
So I was playing the mission where you find the lost Guardian in front of the Temple of Crota, but it made me think...
Why didn't his Ghost just bring him back??
It is never mentioned whether or not the Guardian lost his Ghost.
Also...
Grimoire says that many Guardian lives were lost in battles (Six Fronts, Twilight Gap, etc) How did they die when a Ghost could bring them back?
I already know what you're saying...
psssh.. It's just Bungie

So does that mean they're nerfing fusion rifles again?

Dinklebot was such a savage

But you're Nolandroid nobody cares about you!
While the Ghost resurrection helps make respawn more 'realistic' and how Raid teams don't slowly dissipate after wiping.. To have a sufficient plot deaths need to happen. I wish there was a little more explanation.
-
The ghost must've been taken before he had the chance to
-
The dead guardians ghost was taken from him after he died, it's that dead ghost you pick up at the end of the mission when you're looking for him The way death works in this game is in each darkness zone that you die in, lore wise is a permanent death, but since the community would rage if they had to make a new character and lost all that gear they just let you respawn at the start of the darkness zone or boss battle
-
You would know.
-
They mention crota and hive wizards taking their light from both guardians and their ghost = death
-
Edited by Legion: 8/2/2016 3:56:42 AMWasn't the one in the temple of Crota placed on an alter and drained of its light? The ghost is nothing but a little light and when that light is gone or consumed the guardian dies. I remember hearing Icora Rey saying, "I've lost count of how many times I have died" Implying they do respawn and here is my guess, for every time a guardian respawn a they use a bit of light from the ghost and at some point expend it until there is no more.
-
The Ghost can only resurrect someone if their light is intact. Some enemies can just destroy a guardian's light, or it can fade if they become critically injured for a long period of time.
-
Have you done the Hunter Shadowshot quest? If a Ghost dies, the guardian can't resurrect.
-
Edited by Vortex: 8/4/2016 2:24:01 PMA Ghost can die too. And I like Nolan for the ghost voice. He definitely didn't say we've woken the hive better, but he was better for everything else
-
The guardian on the moon, his ghost was taken from him and drained of its light.
-
Well glimmer in the story is a material that can be used to make any other material. There is a theory that our ghosts use glimmer to remake our bodies when we perish.
-
You tried to revive that Guardian on the Moon. You find his dead ghost about 200ft from his body. Ghost revives work as such. A ghost can grab hold of the Light within you and remake your body with which to store it in. Think of your Light as being like your soul. Sunsingers using Radiance have learned how to pull their own Light out of the aether and thus are able to revive themselves. This is pretty impressive as doing such is like trying to open a door while standing on top of the door (assuming it's a floor door). When Guardians die for good it's because the Light within them was extinguished. With no Light there is nothing for a ghost to bring back. This actually happened to Eris. Due to her extended exposure to the Hive the Light has been drained from her and she no longer has any powers as a Guardian. If she were to die you could not resurrect her.
So yes, Eris has no soul.
-
Um... That Guardian's Ghost is IN THE NEXT ROOM attached to a terminal that has DRAINED ITS LIGHT.
-
Edited by Haffoc: 8/4/2016 10:02:38 AMTo quote the Cabal
Hive have developed unconventional counter-Dead Person capability.
In other words the Hive can kill Guardians permanently. They drain a guardians light until there is nothing left. Hive wizards can also cast clouds of darkness that inhibits the ghost. Darkness zones are meant to represent areas where the darkness is so powerful it affects Light and your ghosts ability to resurrect you. It prevents the ghost drawing enough light to recreate you.

Because we have
plot armor
-
Technically us dying is unscripted. We won't actually die unless it's a scripted event in the game.
-
There are an awful lot of dead Ghosts lying around that you can find, so we know they're far from indestructible. If your Ghost is taken out, you're SOL. Same if your Light is drained, and the Hive are pretty good at doing that.
-
They ran out of batteries.
-
UnNERF fusion rifles.
-
Option 1 I suppose it's a choice. You either what to come back or not. Option 2 All the light from the ghost has gone or the guardians light died out.
-
In front of temple of crota? There's nothing left. Not even the light. Apparently light is required but the oryx sword co summer it all. Some suggest a ghost is bound to a specific guardian but their is some contradictory lore about that
-
If a guardian is in a darkness zone, aka a place where the darkness smothers your ghosts light, then you will die.
-
In areas of intense darkness, there isn't sufficient light for your ghost to revive you
-
Any death in the Lore is by the Guardian dying then the Ghost being destroyed. Like in the Great Disaster the Guardians there died because the Hive ate the Light out of their Ghosts
-
A ghost needs to be close to the Guardian. In the mission to get nightstalker the hunter you are looking for loses his ghost from getting separated by a time gate. You find the ghost outside the gate, but the hunter inside the gate died but couldn't revive cause his ghost was on the other side.
-
Do you even lore?
-
Edited by MightyBeforeOne: 8/3/2016 11:20:25 PMThe ghost is actually quite vulnerable if you think about it, he sits in your pack and hides unless you need him. The ghost shells only protect like 80% of the ghost so if the dead Gaurdians happened to have their ghost out, it could have been shot. Now assuming that that wasn't the direct cause of death for the Gaurdian, considering that we were long dead when they found us, then the Gaurdian could have fought until he died but couldn't revive. Or The ghost was shot while trying to revive the guardian. Now, I know what your thinking:
but mighty how did the ghost get into the temple of crota during that mission where you first spot the stranger on the moon?
I'm getting there, be quiet. The ghost was being interrogated by a wizard inside of the temple and died from the interrgation, giving further evidence that ghosts have little to no armor. (Thanks TKS597) So... In conclusion: The ghost died first.
